RE: It's TAZZO Time!!!!!!!!

Very impressive times there, J.P. Should put you in the low 14's at a minimum. :)

RE: It's TAZZO Time!!!!!!!!

NHRA corrected 1/8 ET: 9.167 seconds at 82.182 MPH

Should put you in the low 14's at a minimum.

That's what I'm hopin' for Bill.:)

RE: It's TAZZO Time!!!!!!!!

I have the same traction issues with 4.10s.
My 0-60 are in 5.7 range, with a 1/4 at low 14s.

wow, im even more proud of my Mark, got the lowest of 0-60Mph in 6.3 during a 50F night with a full tank of gas.

RE: It's TAZZO Time!!!!!!!!

How come the 4.10's are getting comparatively high 60 foot times? Why does it make traction even worse?

But congrats JP, nice times. :)

Ahhhh, but with the 4.10s came the exhaust.:) More power, more traction issues.

I had more wheelspin with smoother pavement on the 0-60 runs. The 1/8 mile runs were on rougher pavement but still some varying amounts wheelspin. I think I'd like to play with tire pressures to see if the Michelins will hook better.

Here's what I've recorded:

My 1/8 mile ET baseline was 10.4 seconds at 72.00 MPH.

Add LMS chip, IceBox and different wheels...

my 1/8 mile ET went to 10.14 seconds at 74.10 MPH.

Add:
ART 2-1/2" Single-X Cat back exhaust
DynoMax UltraFlow Mufflers
Cam Shim
255 Walbro Fuel Pump
AFPR
4.10s
Traction Lock
Poly bushings...

and now my 1/8 mile ET is 9.32seconds at 80.08 MPH.

I like!:)

RE: It's TAZZO Time!!!!!!!!

I’ve already told “driller” this but for the benefit of the rest of you here it is. The Tazzo unit is very accurate. I took mine to the local 1/8-mile drag strip and did three runs with the unit in place and the difference in my Tazzo times and the actual track times were very close. My three Tazzo times were off by an average of .056 slower as compared to the drag strip ticket (9.72 vs 9.75 on one ) and the speeds were 1.3 mph higher on average than the drag strip ( 77.8 vs 78.9 for one example) through the eight-mile. The Tazzo 60-foot times were usually .10 slower than the tracks timers.

It’s a great tuning tool. Especially if you just happen to feel like seeing what it will do when the track is closed and have the area to try it. In addition, you don’t have to pay the “track fees”(LOL). My best 0-60 mph time was a 5.99 but with my 2.5” exhaust, it has dropped to 6.1’s but my eight-mile mph increased by two so it’s a trade off with stock gears, loose torque on the bottom but gain horsepower on the top end.

RE: It's TAZZO Time!!!!!!!!

Going from a 7.6 to a 6.5 on the 0-60 times is impressive! I am sure your times will only get better as you practice more. I don't know much about 1/8 mile runs but yours look nice.

I'm sure if we all had cheater chips are first gens would all be in the high 5's ;)

Hows the vibrations w/the 4.10's?

RE: It's TAZZO Time!!!!!!!!

If you do a search for the post i made after i went to the drag strip in the fall, you can find some good comparisons of tazzo times to track times.

What i found is that at a normal ride height, the unit was very accurate. When i ran slammed, the tazzo consistently gave me a much higher time than the track did. This leads me to believe that the tazzo predicts a certain amount of squat (as the car tilts backward, the tazzo tilts backward, and the acceleration reading is higher, so it compensates for a predetermined amount of squat). When i slam the car, it doesn't squat, so that throws off the readings.

Since i modded my car over the winter, i tried to get some runs on my tazzo. My best was a 14.13 before i put the new tires on it (no tune yet, all kinds of traction problems). When i put the drag radials on the back, i lowered the car maybe an inch to compensate. Now my tazzo is telling me that i'm running 2.3-2.4 60' times with 4.10's, 3200 stall, and drag radials. My best since i put the drag radials on is now 14.5 something. Obviously that's wrong. But maybe the car isn't squatting like the tazzo thinks it is. But i just lowered it the tiniest amount, so i don't see how that could have thrown it off that much. The only other explanation i can think of, is that i'm exceeding the limit of the accelerometer on launch (it can only read up to 2 g's i believe). But i don't think i'm launching quite that hard.

My chip comes this week, and if the weather cooperates, i'm going to try to get to the drag strip this weekend. I'll still have to install the chip and pick up a tranny cooler, but those are both 15 minute jobs. I'll get back out there this weekend and see what it runs, and i'll take the tazzo with me for comparison again.

OK until you get over 75 or so. Over 80 and its definitely prevalent. If there are ever enough on the group buy for a Metal Matrix driveshaft, I have one on order.

Dave, that makes more sense than the 'squat theory'. BTW, a 15 minute install of a tranny cooler is good. The fastest thing I've ever done to my '93 is changing the idler pulley('bout 20 minutes).
