Previous best time---------New best time
60’-----2.031----------------2.033
lost .002-hotter day & drag radials are worn out
330’----5.963----------------5.927
gained .036 between new 60’ & 330’
1/8th-----9.138---------------9.065------79.25 mph
gained .037 between 330’ & 1/8th
1000’—11.862-------------11.773
gained .016 between 1/8th & 1000’
¼--------14.170-------------14.077-----97.19 mph
gained .004 between 1000’ & ¼, both runs had the same mph

These runs were at the same track two and a half years apart. The temp was 5 degrees hotter for the new best time but the humidity and barometric pressure were almost the same. It looks like the improvement in time was at the early part of the run. I was lined up with a Porsche turbo for this run and he didn't catch me until the 1000' point. My friends say he left the light like he was going for a leasurly drive and he shifted slowly. The front of his car went down when he shifted then raised as he got into the power. I beat a C4 Corvette on another run. He was asleep at the wheel and gave me .5 seconds at the tree then spun his wheels big time. Snooze, you loose!

Great times Jack and ohhhhhhhhhh sooooo close to the 13 second club!! Have any setup changes or was this just a good day? :)

Those 60 foot times you got are what I'm looking for - but apparently I need DRs to drop a tenth or two. ::roll::

RE: New best time - 14.077

Damn, you're right on my tail! I still got ya beat though! }(

Congrats on the times! You're oh-so-close to the 13's, i bet you can taste it!

RE: New best time - 14.077

Wow, great Numbers Jack, Congrats!

Sorry, I just got your message this morning. I left town on Friday to deliver some critical papers, and my phone died on me with no charger on hand. I didn’t make it back till 3am last night. Sorry guys, but I’ll make it for sure to the next one!

RE: New best time - 14.077

The only changes in the mods between these two runs is the ART headers.

RE: New best time - 14.077

The same MPH has me worried.
You should have picked up MPH as it is the true mark of added HP.

RE: New best time - 14.077

Yeah, hard to believe that there is no change with the longtubes. Are you running out of fuel or spark at the top?

RE: New best time - 14.077

I jsut noticed his MPH were the same. There must have been an off day or something. YOu should have gained 1-2mph. Gotta be jsut the weather or something. Take it back to the track and try again.

RE: New best time - 14.077

Dan called to see if I was happy with the stainless steel exhaust and I asked him about the speed being the same. He said the 3.73 gears and 6000 rpm shift points cause the car to shift into 3rd just before the traps and could keep the 1/4 mile speed from being a good indicator of power. The 1/8th mile speeds on my previous best time was 78.24 and the new best time of 79.24 give an increase of 1.01 mph. I keep a record of the weather, track conditions, fuel load, and other factors along with the numbers for each run. All 104 of them over the last couple of years.

RE: New best time - 14.077

That is BS, my MPH stayed the same when I went with 3.73's. He tried telling em the same thing would happen. Tried to get me to get 4.10 or 4.30 cause 3.73's are soooo bad. I am perfectly happy with the 3.73's and the 500$ that stayed in my pocket due to the lack of needed driveshaft. My ET went down .15 seconds with the 3.73's, MPH stayed the same.

Then when I isntalled the LT's/exhasut I gained 2mph. If you gain HP, no matter what your gears are your MPH will increase with the added HP. ESP if you are only gauging the MPH one mod at a time. Next time you go to the track you will gain HP unless your car is now running rich due to O2 relocation, ect that incurred from teh longtube install. Pull a plug or two and see how the engine is running.

RE: New best time - 14.077

My car holds third to the end of the track with 4.10's.

I did the math for a friend of mine, with a cougar. He has a lower redline than me, and is planning on 4.30's, and he'll be able to hold third to the end of the track, even if he is running more mph than me, with the same 3rd gear ratio.

You won't need 4th before the end of the strip with 3.73's unless you are running significantly more than 110 mph.

RE: New best time - 14.077

You can trap 128 with 4.30's in a mark VIII spinning it to 7500 rpm's if i remember right. I cannot imagine what you can trap with 3.73's. Gotta be around 145 @ 7500. I was crossing hte line at around 114mph in the red whore at the end with the 3.73's and I was only pulling 4500 rpm's or so. I believe my tires were a hair shorter than stock.

RE: New best time - 14.077

I made a spreadsheet to do the calculations, and i attached it to a message somewhere around here.
