FunRun Racing - Oct. 3

RE: FunRun Racing - Oct. 3

WooHoo! :) New 1/8 mile ET today!

The best of the day...

R/T @ 0.641 seconds
60ft @ 2.175 seconds
1/8 mile ET 9.372 seconds
1/8 mile MPH @ 75.85 MPH

The weather was simply gorgeous, sunny and mild with temps in the 60s for a density altitude of 1250-1500 feet throughout the day. Actual track recordings ranged from 71 to 86 degrees.

With a previous best of 9.407 seconds in the 1/8 mile back in April, it felt good to get in the 9.3s a couple times. Most were 9.4s and a couple were 9.5s. The previous best at THIS track was 9.529. After I ran a few rounds at 9.4s, I knew I could get a best ET if I was able to launch just a tad better.

That was the last of the Fun Run Racing for the 2004 season. :(

Probably nothing to most of you track hounds, but hey, I'm pumped! I can't wait 'til a good day at a good 1/4 mile track. }( }( }(

14.3-14.4 is in your 1/4 mile future !!!

Good job !!! I can't wait to go to the track on the 16th.

Did you get that EGR delete kit ?

Thanks for the props Jeremi. I'm hopin' to see 14.3s or possibly better in the 1/4. I'm supposed to be at the Mason Dixon Dragway in Hagerstown, MD the 10th, but I see storm clouds on the horizon at work. ;(

No, I haven't had time for the EGR delete yet, or much of anything lately. I was out of town for a nearly a week, followed by a convention in Vegas last week, and probably will be out again this coming week and maybe more.

But it sure felt good to run down the track today! ;)

Nice run, that definately could have been a low 14 second pass in the 1/4 mile.

FWIW, my corrected 'conservative calculations' say 14.33 seconds @ 96.5 MPH in the 1/4 mile. That would be just fine for me. I think deleting the EGR should help and I know I need to R&R the O2 sensors for sure. So I may not be running at 100% as it is?

We'll just have to wait and see. ;)

For all the talk about 1/4 mile runs, I have to say running the 1/8 mile is a blast in its' own rights. I recommend it wholeheartedly. At a minimum, it will teach you the importance of reaction time and practice launch techniques. Usually the race is over just past the 60 foot timers for all practical purposes.

I%7qÇllovin' it! :7

1/8th mile is kinda boring for me with stock gears. Our cars pick up a lot from the 1/8th to the 1/4 and beyond anyway.

4.10s, traction-lock, drag radials and an aggressive shift kit will cure the stock gear blues! }( }( }(

I'd get pissed off ... they call your ride a continental on the left ... WTF ? you would think at least the guys at the track can tell a difference.
One other thing JP, your car is toooo quiet !!!

I've been called every Lincoln name at the track except 'Navigator' I think! LOL! I don't know about you, but the few tracks I've been to know nothing about our cars. I hear the all too familar "Hot Rod Lincoln" comments all the time. I even heard one announcer say it was a Bachman Turner Overdrive hit from the 70's! If it was, I sure missed it!

Yeah, my car is too quiet at the track, especially considering some I hear in the staging lanes. Which is OK for some sleeper effect on the street. I need cutouts or tunable mufflers for my wild side at the track. }( But a lot of track events are street legal class, so I don't know how much that would come into play.

I thought about having the cats gutted. What difference would that make? ::roll::

RE: FunRun Racing - Oct. 3

People always ask me what I have under the hood at the track when they hear my exhaust. I tell them it's just a little 4.6 }( .
