Welcome to the race update for Crazy 8's Racing for April 15th 2005.

We arrived at the track at 6:45 and unloaded the cars and took a 30 minute cool down break. Since we drove 100 miles to the track at 75+ MPH our cars could use a little "cool down".

ALL passes were made with 16 gallons of gas with the shifter locked into DRIVE.

We head to the lanes for our first Time Trials session.
First pass
RT- Red -.0211 x(
60'- 2.28 spun x(
330 - 6.273
660 - 9.553
MPH - 75.31

Second Pass 5 minutes later
RT - .0056 :p
60' - 2.24 spun x(
330 - 6.23
660 - 9.527
MPH - 74.95

I made a third pass, when I should have just went back to the pits and began "cool down".. but I felt I needed another hit on the tree.. just to make sure.

Third Pass 7 minutes later
RT - .0264 :p
60' - 2.29 spun x(
330 - 6.36
660 - 9.71
MPH 73.95
Pretty much with the exception of the RT that 3rd run was a waste of gas. But I felt better after getting another decent RT!

I head back to the pits to begin my 30 minute cool down before making some more time trials.

30 minutes later I head back to the lanes and begin my second session of time trials.

First pass second session after 30 minute cool down

RT - .074 x(
60' 2.25 still getting wheel spin x(
330 - 6.23
660 - 9.5001
MPH - 75.67
I'm sorta pleased with this run, even though the 60 is off a bit. I can see that "if the car sticks" it's got a 9.40-9.45 pass in it.
{makes a mental note of that}

Second Pass, Second session 4 minutes since the last pass.
RT - .0015 :+
60' - 2.20 {getting better but still slipped on the HIT}
330 - 6.20
660 - 9.48
MPH - 75.03
"That's more like it.. I say to myself as I head back to the pits to prepare for ROUND 1 of Eliminations!

I discuss my runs, with Tiff and come up with a 9.50 dial in for round 1. She paints the number on my car and we just sit and wait for the call to the lanes.

At 9PM 30 minutes since my last pass we "GET THE CALL"
Tiff heads to the lanes on the first call and I sit and wait in the pits for a while, so some cars can get in line BETWEEN US.
NO NEED TO RACE EACH OTHER IN ROUND 1.. right?
So.. I few minutes pass and I head to the lanes.

Round 1
I get paired once again with one of the better drivers in the class, actually he races in a "faster class" but uses our class for Test n Tune between his "money rounds".
He is sent to the left lane and I get RIGHT.

His dial in is 8.58 to my 9.50
Dial in 8.58------9.50
RT .-0215 RED---.0106 (.5106) BAM!
60 --1.86--------2.24 *chirped tires on launch x(
330--5.50--------6.23
660--8.61--------9.52
MPH 78.10--------75.14
On this pass my opponent gave me roughly a 1 second head start.
I left hard, chirped the tires and just before I hit the 60'clocks the WIN LIGHT BURNED BRIGHTLY IN MY LANE!!
He had redlit to my .010 RT
He also went on to run .03 off his dial in to my .0230 off dial.
Even IF he'd turned on the GREEN LIGHT.. the race was ALL MINE!!!!
*grins*

Victorius I return to the lanes to find out that Tiff ALSO won ROUND 1!!!!!

40 minutes later, we get the call for ROUND 2
Once again Tiff heads to the lanes on first call... and I hang back to allow some cars to get in between us.

Round 2, I get paired with a SIX SECOND motorcycle who draws right lane, I get LEFT

Dial in 9.50------6.58
RT------.0161-----.105 { I TREE'd the crap out of him!}
60'----2.17STUCK!-1.73 :p
330'---6.17-------4.34
660'---9.488------6.50
MPH--72.97*BRAKES-113.55
There was a 3 second difference in our dial in's, poor bike had to sit on the line for 3 full seconds while waiting for his tree to fall.
Since we had longer than a 30 minute cool down I had a feeling my car was going to "run too fast".. and coupled with the fact that IT STUCK on the launch I KNEW I'd be on the brakes at the finish line.

Since the bike was more than a car length behind me at the MPH Timer {50 ft from finish} I tossed out the anchor and dropped 3-4 MPH before crossing the finish line.

BOTH of us broke out, he broke out by .0775 and I broke out by .0115
WIN LIGHT.. MY LANE!:p :+

Victorious and ELATED I return to the pits only to discover that TIFF ALSO BROKE OUT.. and LOST ROUND 2 :(
It was bittersweet, I was reveling in the fact that I was nailing my opponents to the tree like some guy in a MEL GIBSON MOVIE.. and yet.. Tiff had lost round 2 *BUMMER*

30 minutes later they call us for Round 3.
Since Tiff is out of the show, I dont have to worry about dodging her in this round, so I go to the lanes.
I get paired up with one of our friends from POMOFO Racing Shane Cargill who is out at the track practicing for the upcomming Fun Ford Weekend.
He draws the right lane and I get sent to the left lane
Since I broke out on the last pass, I have tiffany change my dial to 9.48
Dial in 9.48------8.73
RT --.0375:p-------.0899::roll::
60'--2.16STUCK----1.87
330'-6.16---------5.57
660 - 9.490-------8.75
MPH - 70.98*------77.20

Since I tree'd him pretty solidly by .05 and he ran .02 off his dial in.. I had a pretty good lead at the finish line, I threw out the anchor and ran .01 off my dial while dropping 4MPH for a finish line margin of .0642
WIN LIGHT LINCOLN LANE!!!!

Since the rounds are speeding up and the time between rounds is decreasing, I felt that my 9.48 dial in was "safe"... SO I left it.
When I get back to the lanes, there's 3 people left.
Me.. and two motorcycles who have already drawn BYE runs earlier in Eliminations..WHICH MEANS.. I AUTOMATICALLY get a BYE RUN to the final round and the bikes will have to battle it out.

The tower misread my dial in and put 9.45 on the boards instead of a 9.48. Normally I would bring this to their attention, but since it's a BYE RUN, I CANT LOSE.. so.. I just LET IT RIDE!

Dial in 9.45
RT ----.0567
60' --2.18 STUCK!
330'--6.19
660'--9.47
MPH---75.40
HAHAHAHHA
The folks in the tower were RIGHT!
I make a mental note of them "being right" and head back to the lanes.
Once again the final round comes up quick.. and I really didn't feel that my car would cool down to anything quicker than a 9.48, so I just LET IT RIDE!!!!

The other motorcycle gets back to the staging lanes and they call me to the lanes to "Face off".
I head to the lanes with my 9.48 dial in.
I draw LEFT lane and the bike goes to the Right Lane

Dial in 9.48-------------6.35
RT---.-0021-REDLIGHT xo --.2244 {He SNOOZED!!}
60'-2.16STUCK-------------1.64
330'--6.16----------------4.21
660---9.45!---------------6.35
MPH---75.34---------------115.24
Dejected I go to the timeslip booth and gather up my slips.
The bike rider pulled alongside of me to say "WHY DID YOU DO THAT"?
HAHAH
Then he asked "did I have anything"? asking about HIS RT!
I looked.. and my heart fell.. He cut a .724snoozylight
and.. I BROKE OUT.. the TOWER had my dial in RIGHT in the SEMI's.. I should have just let them.. KEEP IT!
hahaha

AHH well.. I made it to the FINAL and TOOK myself out.
Had I made the green light come on I could have ran as SLOW as 9.65 and still won.
But.. such is life at the dragstrip.
Sometimes you win.. and sometimes you TAKE YOURSELF OUT!
that's just the "way it goes".

Tiff managed to hang on to her spot in THIRD PLACE and I increased my lead as I sit in First Place!

You can see the points listed on this page

Normally I would post the address to the Winner Circle pics as well.. except the track made a mistake and posted some BLUE NOVA as the Runner up. but they did get my name right!
