Midwest Roll Call - (Reorg?)

Well, since it's now 2004, and we don't have officers really officially for the Midwest Chapter, and people are renewing dues, how about we all post whether we're in for 2004, and the area we're in. Maybe from posts (until the new member list is updated), we can start to get an idea of how the Chapter reorganization might work. This is not meant to be all inclusive, I'm sure some of our members don't post, or don't look in this forum, but I hoped this might give us a good idea to start with.

Don't forget though - if we split ourselves up, there will need to be at least one officer for each area, so speak up if you think you'd be interested.

Me, I'm in, and I'm in the Chicago suburbs.

I'm in for '04. I wouldn't mind having a Detroit chapter but midwest is good too. I'll still be at the Chicago meet, as well as carlisle, and port clinton if we decide to do it again. Maybe i'll hit up some ontario chapter events too, i haven't met most of those guys and they're closer than chicago.

The annual big Chicago meet is usually either the 2nd or 3rd weekend in August. We try to have more meets than that though, but that's traditionally been our big one.

When you schedule it this year, make darn sure it's not on the weekend of that frickin' fun ford crap at great lakes (if we want to race again). It really sucks to drive up there and pay to get 3 runs in.

Yeah, it can be cool to see all the fords, but it sucks not to be able to race. (Even though I'm usually too hung over to do any racing myself. ;-) )

I'm still around.

Probablly should say I'm from Cape Girardeau, MO since I'll be down there most of the time. Summer will be split between Cape and Lake of the Ozarks.

Count me in, I will do my best to make the Chicago chapter bigger, My friend will sign up soon with his 1988 Town Car, he has a tranny problem.

I'm in, but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. Am I just automatically a member if I'm in the LOD or do I have to sign up somewhere? I'm in the Chicago 'burbs, in case some of you don't know.

There are no additional dues, so the requirement is just to be a member of LOD, and then let someone know that you want to be in the Midwest Chapter too. From your post I'll take it that you want to be in the chapter. :)

Let's set up a date for going to the track maybe around spring or very start of summer. I say this so we can get some good weather which will help us get those good ETs. Maybe even a couple strip meets.... spring, then another meet around end of summer.....

We definently need to get more meets in though. Maybe a meet in spring to get all our cars tune up's or have a Dyno day......

The Midwest Chapter Dyno Tune Day !. Let's all gather and get our babies running quick, then hit up the track not too long after that .

Gather up a couple summer nights and hit up some of the popular car meets on the weekends. I know of a couple places where we could chill and look at some nice rides. We could all take a drive around town or " A touring day" and drive around together; with about 10 Mark 8's deep. Nothing better than seeing atleast 10 Mark's of ours cruising the city streets and lakeshore. Tearing the streets up. I know of some spots where a bunch of "Ricers" meet up with their tricked out rides. LOL.

We just need to get together a bit more. Let's take a nice ride one of these summer days and hit up the lakefront or take a drive out to the sand dunes in Indiana or Michigan.

Just some thoughts. COME ON MIDWEST !

We're sitting here in vacation land with our butts froze, and Lake Erie is starting to freeze around the edges, so I'm willing to fanticise about anything, as long as it is warm. There is a shop in Sandusky that bought a Dyno from the local GM plant and I will get further specs to share with the group. The shop is within a mile of Cedar Point, and the ownwers of Norwalk Dragway are local citizens so if there would develope enough interest Who knows what could be possible. Because of all the vacation folks that come here for the weekends I would recommend that a early in the week event would be more accomodating, if there is to be a Port Clinton, Sandusky, Put in Bay, Norwalk Race Way event, with or without Dyno Days. Just trying to be helpful.

I'm in of course. I'll make Sleeper drive me to the next Chicago event - or better yet I'll drive him in his car - so I have fingernails when we get there.
