PSSSSSSSS turns to BOING BOING

Well some of you didnt know yet, some of you did. I decided to convert to Coil springs since I developed a leak in all 4 of my air bags. My priority was cost. That is all. I didnt have the funds to replace all the necessary components of my 10 year old "failing" air suspension.

So, I ordered a conversion kit with 1.5" lowering springs(progressive rate). I also bought new rear shocks, and replaced the rear upper shock mounts.

I took the car to my buddy's shop, turned off the air ride switch(for the last time), hoisted it in the air, and got down and dirty.

2 1/2 hours later, it was done. I could not believe how well it went. the hardest part was figuring out how all the air suspension "hardware" comes off, without destroying it all(I may need spare parts for Brenda's car someday).

I took it out for a ride, and you know what? UN-FRIGGIN'-BELIEVABLE!!!

It rides like a dream. Like a true "sport coupe" should ride. of course, having 10 yr old "failing" suspension components werent helping the "old" set up any. But MY GOD, what a dream ride.

I wont go into alot of details because I dont want to be accused of trying to "convince" you that this is the way to go.

The car sits lower than stock, and as soon as the springs "settle" with weight on them, it will drop a little more. I got the look I wanted, the ride quality is outstanding, and the cost was less than half that of a complete rebuild.

If anyone wants more details, let me know. I just dont want to toot this "conversion" horn too loudly. You would be surprised at how some people think I did "the wrong thing". Its my car, and its my wallet, and I now know I did the right thing. It is perfect. I can drive it where I want, and however I want, without fear of "bag failure" or anything else of that nature.

Thanks for your help with the rear shock mounts John. I'll have new ones for you next week.

Thats all for now guys. If you want to "see for yourself", better show up next weekend!!!

RE: PSSSSSSSS turns to BOING BOING

I like the lowered option via springs - sounds interesting.

What does the kit suggest you do to stop the dash nag screen saying the pump is bad or not working?

RE: PSSSSSSSS turns to BOING BOING

you simply cut the wire that sends the error message to the message center. Unfortunately, I have been told to cut a different wire by three different people. I am waiting to get back in behind the right side kick panel, to find the control module for the message center.

Until then, I just hit the "reset" button when the error message displays, and it goes away until I start the car up again.

BTW, I like your sig pic Dave.
