To answer the question: Where did all the Nor-Cal folks go?

To save some of you some confusion, here are some answers to the question: Where have all the Nor-Cal members gone?

Just a FYI gang, I have noticed (by monitoring the amount of "views" this thread receives daily) that alot of you(Nor-Cal/Golden gate Mark VIII members) are no longer spending a whole lot of time on this website.

I have also noticed that most(if not all) of you frequent a new site called:
www.lincolnvscadillac.com
The Lincolnvscadillac site was formed by past/current members of the LOD with a more "self-organized/less censored" approach.

This "Northern California Chapter/LOD" topic area used to be our most freqently used location for club discussions. Now that the majority of us are spending most of our time discussing events on the LincolnvsCadillac site, I am pointing out that we will make that site our "new" discussion area.

This will benefit our club quite a bit since most of our Golden Gate Mark VIII members are no longer active on this website. Although we are an "official chapter of the LOD", I have learned that most of us no longer log on to this website. Therefore, I am letting the remaining members know where we all are now. I hope that someday most of you will eventually log into this topic area, and realize where most of us are spending our "online" time. I will do my best to contact you all individually in regards to this topic.

I still log on to this site, and check my inbox, so for those of you that still wish to visit this site may PM me here. But since most of our current club discussions are taking place on the other site, that is where your club-related posts should be directed.

We are currently discussing the formation of a new Chapter called "LincolnvsCadillac-Northern California Chapter" or "LVC-NCA" for short. The site is growing daily, as you all know, and I have high hopes for more participation in "supported gatherings".

For those of you that haven't been here in a while, the original 7 founding members probably log on to the LOD about once a month(if that), but just about every one of us logs in daily to the Lincolnvscadillac site. Therefore, if you feel you wish to communicate with myself, or any of the other 18 members, feel free to visit us there.

As always, my email, and PM status is available at all times(on all three sites). If you need instant answers, I suggest you post your questions/comments on the Lincolnvscadillac site.

I hope this post reaches all of the Golden Gate Mark VIII Club members. If this post has been edited by a moderator, please email me for an exact copy of this original post.

Thank you

RE: To answer the question: Where did all the Nor-Cal folks go?

And what do our oh-so-excellent officers have to say about this?

RE: To answer the question: Where did all the Nor-Cal folks go?

Can't say I care much for the leadership there as here - they are pretty much all two faced bald liars. Not likely to go frequent there, either, but you know how to get ahold of me.

What the hell does being "bald" have to do with any thing?

/me looks in the mirror

RE: To answer the question: Where did all the Nor-Cal folks go?

All there is for me to say is everyone is welcome to come over. Even the bald people. :)

Baldy doesn't post on this board JD, you should know that. :p

No need to answer... already know. Every kingdom is a hypocrisy, including yours.

You hit the nail on the head. Maybe we should try judge him according to the rules he lays out? Don’t worry, we wont sink to that level. I just dont favor the "You can’t don’t this at my house, but its ok for me to do it at yours" type of mentality.

It’s just sad that a couple of two-faced folks are targeting the frequent posters for their own gain, and causing problems between members. nough said.

I'm not an "officer" but close enough. I don't like it. But everyone is free to do as they choose. All we ask is that those that visit this site follow the rules.

Speaking of which, Joey, your signature is still a violation of the rules. Since you obviously know about this rule, please correct your signature to abide by it before you post again.

And no, we're not going to go as far as adding that word to the profanity filter. We just ask that you respect the paid advertisers on this site by not advertising your site for free. Of course, you are welcome to have a link to your site in your signature if you pay the advertiser fee and follow the rules.

RE: To answer the question: Where did all the Nor-Cal folks go?

Well, I frequent both the main Mark VIII sites daily, and trying to keep up with yet another Mark VIII site is getting to be just a little too much. Splinter off splinter off splinter. And doesn't Geno have a forum too?? Geez - I think everyone's making far too big a deal of everything. Maybe I'm just too easy, but I've never had a problem with ANY of these sites. I probably have greatest allegiance to this one, because it's a little more of a democracy and hosts the LODNCA chapter/website, but I really can't see jumping from site to site to site - I may drop into the Lincoln/Cadillac forum from time to time, but if I'm not there a lot, please don't think I'm taking sides or anything - I just don't see that it's any kind of big deal, and trying to keep track of what's going on at yet another forum is more than I want to do...

RE: To answer the question: Where did all the Nor-Cal folks go?

John, by all means, I actually encourage ALL Lincoln owners to use ALL Lincoln websites. The only reason I made this post in the NOR-CAL topic area, was to inform any "less frequent" members of OUR Chapter of the current whereabouts of most of our members these days.

If you havent noticed, this topic area rarely sees any new posts. I began to suspect our fellow Chapter members were losing interest in our car club because there was very little activity(more noticeable on the old site's format). I have been emailing several of our chapter members, with no response. I have left PM's from this site, and the mark VIII.org site, with no response. I have come to realize, it is because most of our members are no longer active here. Its hard to reach someone when they arent home...because they have moved.

However, little did I know that this thread would turn into a "personal canvas" for so many un-related posts. I am not surprised by the comments posted by many, but for the Moderators to vent their own personal hang-ups that are completely un-related to this thread's topic, is disheartening, and disappointing.

RE: To answer the question: Where did all the Nor-Cal folks go?

I don't expect you really want an answer, it was mostly a rhetorical question, but I'll give you one just to offer some balance.

Well, a multi part answer.

Number 1, I don't have anything bad to say about the leadership on the forum you mention, so, no problem there.

Number 2, I wouldn't be inclined to publicly trash the leadership there, I know I can have an open and honest discussion with them. I have in fact, on several occasions called people on the mat for things I disagreed with them on.

Here, I've tried and been told some pretty nasty things. Looks like most of the people I've had altercations with aren't leaders anymore, but too much damage was done already.

I lost all respect for this form when I was told "You can either agree with me or I will ban you for life" by a moderator. Not that I was violating rules, but that I disagreed with his particular position in a thread.

I appluad you for allowing an open discussion on the subject. It takes a great deal of courage to allow this disucssion.

Number 3, it is prohibited to trash other forums on the forum I moderate on. It has been for a long time. Unlike here, where trashing Cal seems to be a favorite past time, its not allowed over there because its not appropriate conduct, its not mature, and it has nothing to do with fostering an online community focused on the Mark viii automobile, which is the stated purpose of the forum.

I don't think it's a case of losing interest, more like things come and go in waves - that's the case with me. Stanley has a new baby taking time, I'm still moving in, etc. And with no events currently on the calendar, there just isn't a lot of stuff up for discussion. While I think participation on all the forums is great, especially considering the different people that hang out at different ones, I'd still like to consider this NorCal forum as the basis of LODNCA info, (NorCal meets, LODNCA webpage, etc.), so we don't have to keep following all the different sites just to see what's happening with the locals...

Oh come on, who would say that? That’s just wrong. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, as long as you don’t step on anyone’s toes and get personal.

RE: To answer the question: Where did all the Nor-Cal folks go?

I think the saddest part of all is that this thread will probably get deleted due to the "irrelevant discussions" that have spawned.

I am simply trying to communicate with the LOD-NCA members(yet another reason the Chapter forums should have remained "members only")

Now this thread has grown into something quite ugly. For what its worth, Moderators, could you either delete all the irrelavant comments, or move them elsewhere, without deleting this thread?

I think an open discussion between everyone regarding the issues you have brought up are fine. But I think they belong elsewhere.

I am afraid if this thread gets deleted, you will send me a clear signal that my intentions are being ignored, and that I am not respected as a member of this web community.

For the record, I dont give a rat's trap what you guys want to talk about. I am not concerned with "who did what to who", or what is allowed on other websites. What I am concerned with is the way many posts have been added to this thread. If you all have something to say about our LOD-NCA group, feel free. But if this turns into a "flame" arena...I'm outa here. That will send me a clear message as to this website's priorities. What is it gang? Is it the people and the cars? Or is it "who did what to who"?
