10. A little rain can't stop us from having fun.

9. Nick DeSpirito is an even better baker than me. ;-) (Thanks Nick!)

8. Pennyslvania gives out the most expensive speeding tickets. :-(

7. Badsax is an incredibly talented musician. (Thanks Joe!)

6. You CAN pick up nice boys at Rest Stops. (Please show up here Mr. Purple Mark VIII)

5. People will follow you anywhere if you tell them it's to see a cool car. (Really - the car exists!)

4. IceMan really does like having his rear end grabbed - but we still don't know who he likes it grabbed by.

3. Headers do not necessarily equal a nice sounding exhaust.

2. LOD has the BEST members and friends/spouses. :)

1. In the hands of the right driver, my car's got BALLS! (Thanks Torrey!)

I had SO much fun, but I'm still so tired. It was wonderful to see familiar faces again, and to meet new people. It was disappointing not to see some people who I was hoping to get to see, but hey, we're gonna have a HUGE Chicago meeting this summer, so everyone just better show up here. :)

As always, I wish the weekend could have lasted longer, and I wish the weather on Sunday would have been better so I could have said goodbye to more people. Of course, it's not really goodbye, it's "see you at Carlisle 2004!" ;-)

Aww, thanks for the compliment Sharon. Hoped You enjoyed the Chocolate Chip Cookies I sent with Steve. (that's if he didn't eat them on the way down) I hear You make a mean one Yourself. I heard so much about them. Can't wait to taste them at a future gathering. <hint-hint>

8. Pennyslvania gives out the most expensive speeding tickets.

I learned that lesson last year. I took it easy until I left PA, but I still made it in a personal record time of 8 hours and 45 minutes.

It was a fun time for sure.

I hope to see a lot of the same faces when we get together in Chicago in August!

RE: Top 10 Things I Learned at Carlisle

Sharon,
you need to get a good radar detector.
I did 85 plus the whole way home, and it saved me 3 times.
Did you also learn not to let your son drive when he dosn't want to?
Great to meet you,
Matt

RE: Top 10 Things I Learned at Carlisle

Nick, that was so sweet of you! Steve got into them, but I rescued them and they were absolutely delicious!

Leo, Sunday I was just so tired and it was so cold, with us all spread out, I figured it was best to get on the road. I was gonna grab you on Sunday, but I didn't see you before we left. ;-)

Matt, I'll be checking into autocross for the Kid. I'll also be thinking twice before letting him borrow my car again. ;-)

And, I forgot, I need to give a big thanks to Frank for making sure my bottles were always opened, and providing entertainment for the 10 minutes it would take each time I needed those bottles opened. :*

RE: Top 10 Things I Learned at Carlisle

Jason, your comment had me laughing pretty hard for a minute.I can just picture you saying that.

First off, thank you Nick for the cookies and cake.Wonderfull.

Sharon, who got the ticket, who did you meet on the side of the road, and why is it bad for your son to drive????

I had such a good time this year. Its wierd I bought a second Mark yet didn't have either one of them there and I still had more fun than either past year.
It was definatley better being well rested and not worrying about my car.If things work out like we expect next year will be even better for Torrey and I.Those who know what I'm reffering to cross your fingers for us.
And Thanks again Alex for all your hard work.

RE: Top 10 Things I Learned at Carlisle

I learned that Kale is pronounced Ka Lay.

Luckily i didn't learn about the speeding tickets, but i'm sure i came close a few times. I ended up following someone through ohio at nearly 100 mph for a long way down the turnpike. His brakelights saved me from a couple of tickets, but i have no idea what saved him.

I just got home about half an hour ago. We left aat 11:40 this morning, and made it in about 7 hours of driving, plus our lunch stop.

It was a great trip, i met a lot of great people, and i plan on doing it again next year!

RE: Top 10 Things I Learned at Carlisle

Sharon it was the least I could do for you, after all you did make my wife feel right at home showing her the reason LOD members are the best group of people in the world! See you in Carlisle 2004...

RE: Top 10 Things I Learned at Carlisle

Chris - my ticket, some guy at a rest stop in Indiana with a car that I thought was Strapp's, and ask Ken or Matt about my son's driving on wet pavement when he is trying to catch up with everyone else.

Frank, Liza was a total blast to hang out with, and I loved it that she'd "keep me company." ;-)

Thanks Chris, I hope My contribution to Carlisle 2003 was enjoyed by all. I'm really proud to be a member of such a fine group of people who are dedicated to the preservation of not only the Mark VII, but to all Lincolns and Continentals.

RE: Top 10 Things I Learned at Carlisle

Chris- It is not bad at all for Sharon's son to drive. The myth about second gens being slow, is just that a myth, because that kid can drive. Between that ride and Torrie I dont think Sharon has much rubber left. What a great time.

Nick, that was so sweet of you! Steve got into them, but I rescued them and they were absolutely delicious!

Figured Steve couldn't resist. Mind You, I gave Him a box full of Cannolis to munch on on the way also. Thanks for all Your hard work as Secretary. I want You to know that You are appreciated. Hope all goes well health wise. You are In My prayers as I'm sure all the other LOD members are praying for You too.

RE: Top 10 Things I Learned at Carlisle

Nick! The Black Forest cake and your cookies were awesome, next year could you come along also? Thanks so much!

Thanks Leo,

I'm hoping to meet some of You Ny/NJ members In the summer. I would like to host an Informal gathering. I'm going to talk to Alexander and see If We can arrange something for July.

RE: Top 10 Things I Learned at Carlisle

Whats up Ken?Glad to see you made it back ok.Now I have an image of him grinning ear to ear with the car sideways and the wheel turned hard the other way.
And the coolest part is Sharon would have been perfectly cool with it.
If my mom were in the car I would have been dead.

Ken it was great meeting you and Stephanie also. You guys are both really cool people. We had a great time at the club.It wont matter because next year she'll be old enough, but if we would have known,we would have gone to the club at the HI both nights.
Take care of that car,and remember there are only 360ish modifying days left. And next year the compitition for wild modified will be quite a bit stiffer.Make sure to let us know if you'll be there and we'll get your name ready on the second place trophy.J/K LOL.

RE: Top 10 Things I Learned at Carlisle

Funny Leo.Alex,Bill, and I actually talked about naming the hard luck award after me.Hopefully between that, and taking a year off I ended the Dreaded Carlisle curse.
I definatley have my sights set on first in wild modified.Bwuuuhhaaahhhaaahhhaaahhhhaaaa.
