Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

Former LOD President
We need someone to organize and make reservations for the goings-on at Carlisle this year. Would anyone like to volunteer to take the lead?

We will want to reserve a restaurant or a banquet hall for an awards dinner Saturday night, and organize the annual meet also.

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

Does this mean that Carlisle will be the National Meet this year?

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

Yes. Not gonna change it up this year, maybe next year. Although i'd say i'm more likely to head to St. Louis than Carlisle this year, and i may not make it to either (need the money for other priorities).

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

Ok, In the best interest of the club I am considering this. If there was a list of the people we have contacted in the past that would be very helpful. As far as a tent for the LOD is it a done deal or do we not have 25 people registered yet? As far an eating establishment I would require some input as to what type of cuisine everyone is looking for. I know that I am no longer a full fledged Lincoln owner but that in no way hinders my interest in this club. I will once I have a few answers to these questions more than likely step up to organize this year. Thanks for any input you can give me.

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

Thanks Bill! :) Alexander should be helpful with contact info. I'll offer to help behind the scenes if you should need assistance.

Pssssssssst... Steak!

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

This year I'm bringing couple new members and of course the BBQ grille !!!

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

The Carlisle tent should be a done deal. I do not know if we have the required 25 people. If we don't we need to pay a fee of about $150.

The Ford Carlisle event is one week prior to my wedding. I did not book the hotel for the banquet as last year since that was the consensis. I am not clear as to where people want to meet this year.

How do we know?

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

Maybe a few of us could take turns "minding the store" (taking care of new memberships/LOD sales), so the responsibility wouldn't fall on just one person? I'm willing to have a turn or two ;)

I'm not familiar with the Carlisle area enough to pick out a restaurant, but I do remember that our past banquets have had a large majority of steak lovers.

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

Ok this comming week after Easter I will start to get on this pretty hard. I will 1st call the Carlisle Events people and see about the tent and if we need to pay the 150 or if we have enough participants. Then I will do some research into the local establishments to see if a Steakhouse or something similar is close. I will also get estimates on pricing and group size that they can handle. I may even give the hotel a call and see if they can provide a hose to wash the cars like the old hotel had done a few years past. That was really a nice feature. I will eventually need a kind of headcount as to see how many will try to attend the banquet dinner this year. Alexander I certainly appreciate your input and wish you the best of luck with your new bride. Great to see someone getting married even if it is not me. Oh well I guess it may happen someday but not right now. The tables do need manned by multiple people this year I plan on taking a few shifts too this year. I must appologize for not stepping up last year but I felt somewhat aquward being the traitor bastard child of the LOD kind of. Insert multiple jokes and low blows here. Ok that being said I think if we ahead of time on the board setup who is willing to man the booth and a tenative time schedule we will be better prepared and everyone can enjoy the event more. The LOD will benefit greatly too as sometimes one person must deal with several potential members at once causing confusion. I will post other ideas as I come up with them. Lets make Carlisle 2005 the best Carlisle LOD gathering ever!

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

Bill looks like have joined you as the traitor bastard child, at least you purchased a ford product. I went out and got something made by the British. I am still up in the air as to if I can make it to the show.

Hate to tell you, but you did buy a Ford.

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

Ford didn't take over land Rover until the 2000 year. Mine is a 1997 when it was under the control of BMW and the engine is a modified Buick engine with Lucas electrical.

Also appearing under the Ford company is Austin Martin

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

Count me as a volunteer at the tent, Bill. Let me know if there is something else I can help with, too. We're staying at the same hotel as you again this year, so we could get together there for any last-minute instructions. Brad and I will arrive Thursday (early) afternoon. :)

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

Well here is a possible place for our banquet this year. It looks to have steak, fish, and chicken choices at comparable prices to years past. They also have Themed rooms for groups. I will place a call Monday and see what they have to offer. Tell me what you think and be sure to click on themed rooms to check those out.

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

It sounds like a place with a nice selection of items on the menu. I like: Lisa's Plum, Charlie's Room, and the Nautical Room.

It looks like some rooms can seat more guests than others. The room choice may depend on a head count, then. Count 2 under my name, ok? ;)

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

Hey, Bill:

Don't forget, the warm milkshakes are a MUST on our restaurant menu! I know Leo enjoyed his so much last year . . . !

And, check your email :)

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

Ok I did not get a chance to call today but I will try again tomorrow. So I know of at least 4 or 5 people that I know are comming to the banquet. How many should I logically shoot for comming just to let the establishment know. I am thinking if we have less than 20 I will shoot for one of the smaller rooms if not we need to go for one of the much larger rooms. I like the look of the nautical room myself, but only holds around 16 so I think it is out. I will check and see what else may be available. Oh and boy do I have a surprise for everyone in the works that I think you may really enjoy. Also need to get on the horn with the hotel this week. I want to see about getting a hose for everyone to use there if possible. How many are staying at the Comfort Suites? I think I saw that about 4 are staying there so far. If enough of us do then maybe I can work some deal with them. Oh and can everyone tell I am training for a new career in the hospitality management industry? LOL I really hate the Cellular Industry right now and hope that this proves a good career move. I may even see since Alex, Leo and a few others have supplied the prizes for the banquet in years past I may see if I can get a few freinds of mine to donate some items. Maybe even an item or 2 just for the loveley ladies of the LOD. Ok enough babble for one night.

LONG LIVE THE LOD!!!!

RE: Would anyone like to volunteer to organize this year?

I won't know until a week or two before the event whether i'll make it or not... but if i'm there i'll want to be at the banquet.
