This is what I call a shiny car.

RE: This is what I call a shiny car.

Ok, so first let me say that I hate you... but this isn't general hatred, it's weather related hatred...

Second... I thought you had some dirt on your hood, but it turned out to be on my screen... :D

Looks great Max! So you got it all fixed up?

RE: This is what I call a shiny car.

Yep. Car is back to the good old days. But the new sway bar is STIFF!

Beautiful Max! What wax or polish do you use? WHat did you do to prep the finish before polish? People always say you can't get white to "pop" but here is an example of what a proper job can really do.
[/div]

I ususally make sure that paint feels "smooth" before I apply any wax. If it is not I use a clay bar. The wax I use is Zaino, I used to use Z2 only, now I switched to Z5, I can't see any specific difference between the two, but car is really really shiny :). I finish it of with Z6 gloss enhancer.

RE: This is what I call a shiny car.

Oooooo I didn't know they came out with a new product... that ZFX line they had really was more of a pain (and waste of money) than anything i never used it. I used to leave the Z2 on over night... but I noticed in warm dry weather it dries within the hour, but this new stuff is definitely something I will get once I need a new order of Zaino.

RE: This is what I call a shiny car.

Great looking car. Like the rims on that as well.
I've always liked a white car on most models. Clean and shows the lines of the car better. But, still love my Black Mark.

RE: This is what I call a shiny car.

Max...I missed this thread...sorry buddy.

So, all is well since the repairs? I didnt hear from you other than the VM you left me when they got the axle in...I take it all is well now.

I know that SB is pretty stiff. Its amplified with the 18's as well.

Now, down to business:
your car is one of the few Opalescent Mark's I have seen in person. I fell in love with it in Sept/'03 when I first saw it for our Santa Cruz run...it was clean then...but it seems to get better and better evrytime I see it....bet you're glad you kept it, if you know what I am talking about ;)

Stanley...the "road trip odor" you are catching wiff of is to Knott's Berry farm April 17th...its a club-event...or so I thought. It happens every year, so planning in advance is easy. I am taking the 97(one car making the 6+ hour drive is enough. dont need to buy that much gas for 2 cars!), which now has a "surprise" mounted to it! if you wanna see the surprise, best show up for the meet.

I'll be leaving by 8:00am Saturday 4/16. I will be staying at a hotel near the park Saturday night, and will be at the show on Sunday. I will be leaving Monday morning.

If anyone wants to roll down from the bay area...get ahold of me.

Max...sure hope you can make it...I-5 isnt as bumpy as you think...even with that Addco "telephone-pole" you have strapped to your rear suspension!

Fantastic ride Max....Opal Opalescent, early 96...18" Cragar SS's, HID's, killer sound system...it dont get much sweeter.

RE: This is what I call a shiny car.

Alrighty first things first. I have work on Fri and Sat nights so I think I will show up just on Sun.
Now back to the mark. Get this craig the new halfshaft was leaking a little bit of grease too, even before it got put on the car, but it seems to be holding up alright now. The design of it was a little different than mine, i think it might be from the cobra, the metal(shaft portion between the two rubber boots) of it is ticker and a little shorter.
And i can't quite figure out what is causing the vibration problem, i got a set of hubcentric rings, put them on the wheels, and at first it seemed like the problem was 85% gone, but now it is starting to shake again. Hmm no idea why, those damn rings are made out of plastic and they ran me $27 with shipping which is outrageous, they are worth all of 23cents. Well and of course i noticed that someone stripped a lugnut from the front wheels, so that might be a problem, since it is only riding on 4 up front. I might have a little surprise mod by 4/17 though }( .

RE: This is what I call a shiny car.

Max...I have a feeling your curb shot moved the rear carrier over a smidge.

If the axle was too short, it wouldnt fit...period.

The new axle WILL leak grease prior to installation, since the botts arent sealed to anything yet...but its under warranty, so dont think for one second you cant bring it back.

My advice...if you are having a problem, fix it before modding anything else.

I already know what you are doing to the car...there isnt much else that CAN be done... heh heh.

RE: This is what I call a shiny car.

Oh, the rear end is just fine craig. I was just saying that the part looked a little different (once again i need to remember to back things up with pics when I talk about it ::roll:: ), i think it is a better part though. Since it looks stronger than the factory half shaft.
