1991 Fountain

RE: 1991 Fountain

It's been in the shop half the time i've had it, and i've been on the road most of the other half. I've barely been on it!

No, those pics were taken off of strawberry island.

Muscamoot bay is the place to party every weekend. But maybe i'll try docking at Metro and picking up some chicks. I used to live on one of the bays off of the black creek.

I'll get a good pic of the engine once i get a chance to clean the bilge up.

RE: 1991 Fountain

It's not going to make it to carlisle. There's no water there!

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I like the bow styling on the fountains too, i've always loved that look. I actually have an r/c fountain from when i was a kid. The major drawback to that styling is in interior space. The cabin is real cramped. But i guess that's the price you pay!

RE: 1991 Fountain

Awesome stuff, Dave. We actually just picked up a 22 Foot '93 Cobalt.
The boat runs very smooth and it's hella fun. I seen some WICKED cigarette boats last week on the lake, and some beautiful bajas.
I'm hoping to get on the lake a couple more time before it starts to cool down.
Your boat is awesome tho. Fountain's have an awesome body style, no to mention the power.

RE: 1991 Fountain

Thanks for the compliments guys (and gals)

I'm still tinkering with it. It's not quite as fast as it should be. It should run about 65 with that motor, but it's only running about 58. It should also be turning a 22" prop (pitch) or so, i believe it's only got a 19" on it, and i'm still seeing 5000 RPM at WOT. I'm trying to figure out what size my carb is, but i can't seem to find a way to identify it by the number. It's a Weber (i think) and the p/n is 8867 on the top of it. If it's a carb for a 502 it should be at least a 750 CFM, i'm wondering if it's a carb off a 350. I'm only burning 6-7 GPH, so it might just not be enough carb. If that's the case, it's getting an 800 CFM carb, probably a holley, with a new dual-plane intake. And the requisite new 4-blade prop. I also plan to redo the dash over the winter and have some of the upholstery fixed (some of the stitching is pulling apart on the "trophy rack" - the sundeck.

So far i've found www.offshoreonly.com/forums to be pretty helpful. They want you to pay to see all the pics and post in all the forums, though. I think i'll pony up sooner or later, but they want kind of a lot and they have a lot of advertisers.
