Need to pay the bills

Hello All,

I'm thinking about selling my toy. I've got three beautiful boys and I need to stay at water levels with my bills. Selling my absolutely fun as hell 93 Mark VIII is my only alternative. I have 120K miles on her and she runs like a bat out of hell. I have new Michelins on her and I replaced the air suspension with an incredible lowered spring and strut kit from STRUTMASTERS. The body is perfect and she tracks straight as a rollercoaster. The obvious repairs on her include the front bushings ie: upper control arms and the tie rod bushings. Other then that the cruise control doesn't work. The tracktion control button doesn't operate properly. The drivers side window is off the track. The exhaust has a small leak somewher in the front buy the headers and the power antenna is shot.

All of these are easy fixes as you all know however, I have run out of time. I have owned her for about a year now and what a pleasure it has been. The A/C is cold as hell and the tranny is very strong. AAMCO has changed the oil and serviced the tranny to ALMOST completely eliminate the washboard overdrive transition. The interior is almost perfect. She is a maroone 93 with Black Leather Interior.

I will sacrifice her for $4,500.00 and if offered anything less I will just bite the bullet and keep her for the rest of my life. If anyone is interested please give me a call at 954-253-8758.

Thank You,

Bob, the resell market for the mark 8 isn't very strong.
If "I were you", I'd just keep it.. it's resell value doesnt accurately represent the caliber of car that the Mark 8 is....

Good Luck with your finances, hang on to the mark.

I would rather be broke driving a mark 8, than have money and drive a camry

Take your tranny to a scam-free shop when it fails shortly after their warranty expires.

The entire AAMCO chain is infamous for doing tranny repairs that last until 3 days after the warranty expires.

RE: Need to pay the bills

I had a similar experience with AAMCO back in the 80's

I haven't tried using them again, because if you screw me ONCE..
SCREW YOU!
HAHA

AAMCO blows.

RE: Need to pay the bills

Believe it or not, I (back in the '80s) had a completely different experance with AAMCO. Back then they had a warranty that included the requirement that you take the vehicle back to them for an annual inspection - at their cost! I did and they kept that old Chevvy VAn running for a lot of years...until I sold it anyway. I think it was about 5 -6 years after the work!

PS - They don't offer that annaul "free" inspection anymore. Ummm, wonder why.

RE: Need to pay the bills

Thanks XLRVIII,

That is what I figured about the resale value. Driving to work today I was like, why the hell should I sell this thing it is an absolute pleasure to drive. I can't understand why the resale value is so low. I figured that it was because of the suspension problems that are associated with the car but whatever. It is a great vehicle.

Thanks again.

RE: Need to pay the bills

Hello logres,

Thanks for the reply. I haven't really had any problems with it except for the fact that when I first got her back they left the oil lines loose where it connects to the radiator and she spewed oil all over the place. Really Pissed me off, what an amature move for a proclaimed tranny specialist.

Thanks Again,

I had 3 transmissions installed by them, First one was the "Lifetime Warranty" 2800 dollar sales pitch which required the "annual check up".

First tranny died in 20K miles, about 4 months after they installed it.

Second tranny was under warranty and crapped in less that 20K, roughly 2 months later..

Third tranny they put in and said my "warranty" was void.
I sold the car soon afterwards and shortly after that... the tranny died.

There really is no good transmission franchise out there...you have to get lucky and find a good local business owner. Trannies have historically been the most complicated devices on cars, even above engines. They're getting less complicated with computers, but trannies are still the only part of a vehicle my dad won't touch. He considers carbs easier than trannies.

RE: Need to pay the bills

Hey Bob you be suprised how many of the young folks that are hipped to the Mark viii i get offers all the time.So give it a try.I live in Cleveland Ohio and this is Ford country so Mark V8s go for around 3200 to 4500 here easily.Around here the young boys buy them.I always try to warn them to be careful its not to be played with.A Mark will get away from esp at midrange in the rain.Reminds me of the 65 66 hipo 289 mustangs that would blow alot of big blocks away.So if i find a buyer for you ill let you know!Good luck
