Bolt pattern would be 5 x 114.3
16 x 7

Just found a set of used Blizzaks on Craig's list in a 16" size, so now we need rims to mount these on. If you're selling some, please let me know ASAP, as I am looking on ebay and if we don't have luck in the near future will just get steel rims to mount them on.

I recommend some steel wheels. The basic white or black ones with the little stripe around the edge that can be had for $25 apiece.

Yes, I was figuring we'd get steel wheels, but I can't seem to find any that cheap. Is there a benefit to the steel for winter tires that I should choose those over other used rims?

not really. you just don't want chrome because the salt will screw them up. if anything aluminum is probably the best because they'll probably rust the slowest.

OK, never mind - got a set on ebay for $85. American Racing aluminum.

Trixie, is it really cheaper, buying a used set of tires ($80+) and a used set of wheels ($85 + shipping), and then mounting and balancing the tires on the wheels ($60+). Than to just get a set of new all season tires and not worry about all of this ($350)?

All season tires are what we bought earlier this year. Yokohamas. I've never had to buy snow tires before, but his (per Jeremi's keen eye) are in no way working in the snow. But I always make sure to buy all seasons -- mine are and then I don't need snow tires.

Well, son of a ....

I just looked these up the Yokohamas that we got -- I was SURE they were all seasons, but they aren't! doh. Oh well, that's what hubby gets for being cheap and not letting me get him the Michelins in the first place.

Depending on what kind of all-season you're dealing with, they can be downright worthless in the snow.

all season tires are really a compromise, and you don't get the best performance possibly in either summer or winter conditions.

It's really not more expensive to have a set of summer tires and a set of winter tires, because you're only using each set for half the year. The only real extra cost is the second set of wheels or the cost of re-mounting the tires every 6 months.

Good point. Each of the sets will last longer. And although I can drive the Lincoln in the snow (sort of) the Mustang was never good, so hopefully this will help.
