I can't begin to tell you what I am feeling right now. My job at Arby's is going well, and I may even have a second job lined up for next month. However, even with all this good happening in my life the unexpected somehow turns my life upsidedown.
First let me start by explaining how much my Aunt Pauline means to me. She has always been there for me, and taught me so many things. She was the one that took me fishing for the first time, and also the one that was there to take me on roller coasters when my parents were too frightened to. We had worked on numberous projects over the years. We put in a wood floor, built a front porch, built a shed, fixed mowers, programmed apple newtons, went fishing, fixed automobiles, rode rollercoasters, and even did model rocketry. We have so many things that we wanted to do in the future such as restore a Ford Model T, restore a Ford 9N, go on a photographic bear hunt, and even more wonderful things. She is the strongest woman I have ever known. She taught gym for twenty some years, was a Firefighter, an EMT, and even beat cancer a few years back. She also developed a victim identification program after the airline disaster near Pittsburgh PA several years ago. This program has been used at the WTC 9/11 tragidy, several plane crashes, and even the most recent flooding of New Orleans LA. She truly is a very accomplished individual.
Now on to the sad news. My Aunt Pauline suffered a brain anurysm about two weeks ago on a Thursday. Friday morning she had surgery to repair the affected blood vessels. Saturday she was awake and talking with everyone as though everything was fine. Sunday about noon she suffered a major stroke, and since that time has had several other minor strokes. We are now at the point where decisions need to be made. Our family doctor has informed us that she will never be able to get any better than what she is now, which is non responsive and unable to move her left side. Today my father took care of the DNRCC paperwork so now it is a matter of time. This is what she wanted and had stated to her doctors and nurses before she went into the surgery. She also had the DNR paperwork taken care of a few years ago stating that she did not want to be like this. So now we wait and know that we do this out of love for Pauline. We are just waiting for God to call Pauline home to dwell in his house. May God bless you all and keep you. Take life as it comes and live each and every day to the fullest.
