heat not working

Ok, I had an issue with my blower motor not working for the HVAC, a mechanic friend said bang under the dash on the passenger side and see if it starts up and it did. That has happened 2 times in the last month and now I get no heat. MY rediator is full and doesn't appear to leak. The car doesn't overheat, whats wrong? What do I need to do?

omg, will a mechanic do this for me if I pay them? I am not dedicated enough to go through this ordeal

You can at least do the test to see if that's the problem. Your local Lincoln dealer will do it for you for sure. Just be ready to hand over your first born male child. Yes, that expensive!

Wait a min... Does your blower motor work? (no air from the vents) These are known for having a loose connection. The blend door as mentioned is also very common.(no heat)

yea the blower works but episodically stops working. I missed the test part, I will have to re-read that

ok thats cool now to find the test for the blend door, thanks alot

Lets NOT get ahead of ourselves and scare Mike to death! lmao :)

Don't assume the worst until you've checked everything out!

Now that I've said that.... OMG NOT THE BLEND DOOR :p I pitty you if thats what you find out is bad, hehe.

hahaha thanks man, I know it willbe, this based ont he fact I paid so little for the car and its been great so far. I had to replace the steering column bearings, the air suspension, the oil filter seal, the seat support broke, TWICE and I had to weld and re-weld it. ITs been great

Lol! I guess all you have left is the blend door! :)

Did you figure out how to test it? I believe you can actually "see" it from under the dash, so maybe you can look to see if its operating, or if the little shaft is moving?

I'm going to try, I was just talking with the mechanic at the firehouse I work at and he works on Crown Vics here and at the police dept. and he said he is pretty sure there is some keystrokes to put in to do a self diagnostic on the heating system to see if its the blender motor. He also checked the two lines that come into the firewall from the engine and they were both hot, so he said it has to be that and wished me luck. If I read the tutorial correct I should find the blender motor on the passenger side inside the glove box, above it, correct?

Mike.........here is the info from the link I've included.

Now look through the opening from which the glove box was removed towards the front and center. You will see a gray door control lever. This the lever that you can pull down a little when then the blend door actuator arm breaks to get some heat. This will not work if the blend door actuator has completely come off the shaft of the motor. The gray arm works in tandem with the black arm of the blend door actuator via the flat long connector that holds them together.

That GRAY lever is what the blend door motor moves, and if you manually move it by hand, you should be able to get heat. You can also see if this moves while you turn the FLOOR control to 90*. If the blend door shaft is bad, this won't move.

Here is the link on the blend door repairs....read it thoroughly because there is valuable info in there that you can test before you remove the dash.

Yes thanks, I saw that. But thats the Right side under the dash, right? ANd I just don't want to do it, I can't believe I have to go through this, I'm going to cry

My mechanic charged about $450.00. Not too bad considering it was December and I could see my breath!

Could the blend door actuator be fixed by neatly slicing through the dash (preferably along a seam), and then gluing the cutout back in?

lol, yea I am on it J, I am still contemplating this task, I had just been on vacation from the thought for a few weeks. I guess its time to start thinking about it. I am about to ask my brother to help me, he wants to play golf next week so now is my time, muwahahahah

edit: I went out and checked it and i touched it and it is moving and now it switches from hot to cold everytime, I don't know why it stopped but nothing is broken, should I spray it with some lithium grease or WD40? I want to prevent it from breaking.
