Went on a little trip with my aunt and family today... check out the local gas prices on my way there...

Oddly, we dropped 5 cents over the weekend. But for every cent dropped, ten cents is added a week later!

...and the rest of the country appears nonchalant about it.

we're getting the worst of it here, Max.
local taxes, my left foot....it's gouging...and the rest of the country denies it.

I am going to round up half a dozen tree huggers who are against drilling on our soil for oil, and have thm push me to work.
That way they can do their part to save the planet, and I can save money at the pump. Just need to find a good whip.

Thats at least $1 more per gallon than here. Looks like your California taxes at work!

I'm guessing all the extra smog laws in California cause the fuel to be so expensive?

Do these laws actually work? Does California have the cleanest air in the country?

"Save the trees, wipe your butt with an owl".:D

Bill...a few observations:

1)Calif has more cars than most other states
2)Calif has the highest gas prices per gallon than most other states
3)California ALWAYS has tax/budget issues

you tell me....are we paying at the pump for the state tax/budget issues?

Knowing we pay more for smog inspections, vehicle registrations, vehicle licensing taxes, sales tax on vehicles...and that there are more cars here...and our roads are some of the worst in the country(we dont even see snow in most of our state), and our real estate is INSANE....

I swear...i dont know why I even live here.
Oh yea...the weather. (pfffft)

No, but the air is a lot cleaner than it was ten years ago.

Coming from one who used to get "smog" headaches at least once a week back then...

The cars in california are the cleanest in the country... we also have more cars than any other state. The laws are just that laws. I am not sure that the gas prices have anything to do with local laws. I checked the gas taxes, and while having one of the highest in the country, other states have higher taxes and much lower gas prices.

There is a reason.... just like when we got scammed 5 years back or so with the "energy crisis" and our electricity cost 10x the national average... They made a big fuss about how companies like Enron (RIP) made billions ...

Don't forget that the real estate that your stations set on cost a good deal more too. You don't think that the station owners are gonna absorb those costs do you?

Real estate in New York wasn't exactly cheap last time I checked. Plus most stations have been here from way before the prices shot up in the past 8 years or so.

The cost of living is just more in CA. Not just gasoline, most everything except maybe veggies and your local grown fruit.

I am not going to argue this with you... gasoline prices in california are 10-30% higher than the national average... this wasn't always the case. 7 years ago we were paying the same $1.00 per gallon for gas. Hell my uncle saved his receipt for 99cents per gallon. Real estate at that point was already way more expensive than in say Ohio....

There was a growing GAP the past couple of years... with no explanation but the growing profits of the oil companies.

please look at 2002 and then fast forward to today....

Too bad I don't have any graphs prior to 02...

Does California have the cleanest air in the country?

LMAO...maybe the Northern most part! Our major cities are so hot because of the smog layer that sits above the city like a dark brown cloud. Its not because the cars pollute, its just because the amount of cars.

HAHAHAH....thats funny as hell!

In day's of old, when men were bold, and paper not invented,

they wiped there a-- with blades of grass, and walked away contented.

Take Care.
