Convert First Gen Mark to Coil ON Plugs

One piston fires at a time, but two spark plugs fire. Two pistons DO NOT provide downthurst at the same time. Re-read bud, your thoughts were right!

Again, pre EDIS days when cars had distributors, only one COULD fire at a time in a V8.

I've never seen a thread with such a mix of mis-information and good information.

It's a good thing we don't have V-12s!!!

Give unity a cigar!

The distributor rotated once for every two revs of the crank. Only one spark plug fires per cylinder. The Marks are no different. The reason the coil packs are labeled in pairs is because they can be used at either position -- they are the same part numbers.

Thats obvious, but the "pairs" I supplied had nothing to do with what is written on top of the coil. The EDIS is not the same as a distributor/coil style ignition system, there are several differences.

Every engine has a companion cylinder, regardless whether or not it fires. The companion cylinder is in the same position as the original, but on a different stroke(exhaust/intake), but the piston is in the same spot......I believe thats where the "balance" comes into play.

I don't understand the V12 comment......."enlighten us". :D
