Subwoofer selection input required

I am currently building a stereo for my vette. I got the box, and it will take a 10" woofer. I was originally going to go with a 12" but I decided not to "over-do" it again on this system like I did on my last. And everything in this car will be stealth. You won't see the woofer or box, or amp etc. I don't need too much power since this is a coupe so me and the sub will be sharing the same space .

I am going to be using a kicker ZR1000 amp,

So right now I am thinking a JL W7 10" woofer. I have heard these before and I have yet to hear clearer bass. But they are very pricy... $300+ for a new one and I have yet to find a used one.

ED subs still good?! What is a good sub around the 400-600rms rage and the 10" size... also I am limited to a maximum of 8" mounting depth.

There are alot of them out there, what price range are you looking to be in?

max i have dual 10 inch kicker comp VR's in my 98 they are dual voice coil subs and can take up to 600 each i love the way they sound they hit hard and tight they way i like bass i dont like distorted sloppy vibrate the car bass. they are very reasonably priced too. im not sure on the mounting depth but i think 8 iches is more then enough. they are roughly 18 lbs each too. just a thought.

Well guys I posted this in anything goes because it doesn't relate to the Mark VIII...

I want to stay under $300 for a 10" sub... preferably something I can pick used as well.

Just some ideas, there is a big selection out there for you in 10" subs. Just remember that a sub can only be as good as the box that it is in and the amp that powers it!

I saw that JL already. A bit pricy and comes with a box which I have no use for.

how about a kicker solobaric solo X 18 inch lol. 114 lbs and can handle 2500 watts. thats what pete bought for his vette, what a moron lol. it was as big as the compartment in the back of his vette. talk about a hatch shatter'r!!!!

Well the W6V2's are pretty comparable to the W7's but just cheaper. The over all stats are pretty close. I also really like the RE's and the Focal's as SQ subs. Infinity runs a pretty close 3rd. Any more questions just let me know, remember don't just buy a sub for the name!
