The pro package will work with OBD I systems? Is it a chip with tune-able software or something?

SCT ProRacer is just the software used to calibrate "either" a chip or an Xcal device.
OBDII cars use Xcal for the most part and EEC IV cars use a chip.

FWIW: my car is EEC IV and I use PRP to put multiple tunes on my 4 bank chip.

The learning curve is nearly vertical but once you get the "jist" of what is happening, most of it makes sense pretty quickly.

Wow....sounds like super cool software!

So, in essence, if I feel like I might get "jipped" sending my chip back for a re-tune, you'd be able to do it? :wink2-green

Due to the extremely intense "acceptable use policy" that I had to sign, the answer is "no I cant tune your chip".

PRP is for a single user to use on a single vehicle or vehicles that they own.

For instance, I probably COULD do Tiffs car as she is my spouse.. but I'm pretty sure SCT would "frown upon" me competing with their Authorized Dealers.

But.. if you got the PRP package, I BELIEVE I should be able to HELP you tune your chip by giving you pointers or sending you value files that worked for me.

I dont think that would run afoul of my license agreement with SCT.
because you would be a licensed user as well...Did that make sense?

Yeah, that makes sense! Kinda like when you buy a programmer, you can only put the tune on one car at a time. Its good business...I understand :D

you should get one..it's by far been the "MOST FUN" mod I've done to my car.

I love driving my car, I love racing my car..and to be able to tickle the little things in the programming has been alot of fun.

you can alter the personailty of the car with a flip of a switch, kinda like your cutouts... but on a whole different level.

You and JP both are prime candidates for this software....
...dont be skurred, they are only 1's and 0's!

There is a scaler/table that addresses IAT
You can add spark and or fuel based on a particular AIT
You can add spark and or fuel or pull spark or fuel base on ECT

Alot of stuff in there that has JP written all over it.

I'm thinking... hmmmmmmmm...

Being able to change all that is cool but what I'd really like is being able to 'see' all the sensor data during a run via a datalogger device. Is there any datalogging available with the package?

I'm beginning to see why some choose to go with OBD-II cars.

Datalogging EEC IV is tough.
Currently there is no datalogging solution for EEC IV.

I was using a snap on mt2500 scan tool {big red brick)
it would show me
Maf voltage
02's
Short Term Fuel Trim
ECT
IAT and some other stuff.
But the refresh rate isn't "the best" and it's not really a valid datalogging solution, but it did allow me to see the things I was curious about.

Sneec IV will datalog

XLRVIII But.. if you got the PRP package said:
Tommy, your in trouble now!
When I bought my Vortech from Rienhart, I had him throw in a PRP package.
It's been sitting on the shelf since. I haven't even activated the password.
Also bought the SCT tuning manual. I was pretty intimidated by all of it and
when you say -vertical- I can believe it.
BUT, now I know where there's a brain to pick. :)

Anytime Mel,
Feel free to shoot me a PM anytime.. or PM me your phone number and I'll gladly call you.. NO PROBLEM

While I dont know if I can help on any of the "forced induction" stuff.. I can probably lend a hand in the trans functions area.

The learning curve is very steep.. I wish I had the SCT manual, but didn't fork over the extra 75.00 because I figured it was mostly geared towards the ODB2 stuff.

Can you tell me if there is "much" in the manual that is EEC IV?

If so.. I might have to pick up a copy or borrow a copy from someone.
Mel, did you get the book version or the CD version?

I would sure love to take a look at it, if I remember correctly it's about 75 pages.

What processor code are you using?

Tommy,
By processor code, do you mean the pcm catchcode?
If so, one car is W3Z3 (Queen), the other is W3Z2.
I got the manual in book form and havent looked at it in over a year.
Too busy making hardware to worry about the software.
I think the book is copyrighted so we have to be carefull about
making whole copies, but under fair use provisions, parts can be shared.
I'll try to post the chapters/table of contents to give an idea of what's
in it, and we'll go from there.

Thanks Mel,
I was wondering how much it'd help or if it was geared towards the popular obd2 stuff rather than eec iv.

if it is full of how to's on datalogging and what parameters to log, that is of no use if we dont have a viable datalogging solution, which is why I am reluctant to shell out the 75.00 for the manual, because it wont really tell me anything that'll help "my application"... if that makes sense.

and overall overview would be great.. when you have time.
