I build random, but cool, things sometimes, haha.

OCCUPY LoD :)
I got the order from my old boss to build him a hitch stand for his little portable generator so he can stick it onto the front of his truck when he goes hunting. I made sure to make every part of the generator accessable without having to unbolt it and slide it out. The air filter is removable, the pull cord is easily pull-a-ble without busting knuckles, the electrical plug panel access is plentyfull, and the oil drain plugs are easy to reach and not blocked. Check it out.......

I also go the order to build a transmission tray that could easily be removed/installed into the back of the shop Ford Aerostar, but also have the safety of not moving if involved in an accident. This way the transmissions could be strapped down, and not move during transit, vs. sliding around in the back of the empty van. I also build up legs so they can slide the little drip pans underneath to keep the van clean. I don't have any pics of the finished product/install, but to finish I welded on a mess tray like the generator had on top. When I installed it into the van, I installed posts on the rear fender wells so that the tray just drops into place and when you open the rear doors, its all the way to the back for easy access. Sucks lifting a trans into the bed of a truck with the tailgate down, so with this setup there is no over reaching and hurting your back.

Jesse, where'd you learn to weld? My son is a welder too...has been for a long time. Works for the local Gas/Electric Company (BG&E). He told me while in 9th grade he didn't want to go to collage, so we made sure he took VoTech all thru high school. Let's just say he doesn't have an income problem now!!! He also fabricates all kinds of stuff.

He just finished up installing a Chev 350V8 in an old Pontiac Fiero. He had to fab all kinds of things for that job. You should see the exhaust!!! Sounds great tho....His biggest problem now is to keep the rear tires on it!!!

Thats awesome Bud! I love doing fab work...the only thing I wish I has is a chop saw! :( Have to use a stupid sawsall or die grinder, haha.

I learned to weld at my shop....my boss showed me how to use the welder, and I just learned myself. About 3 months later, my girlfriend bought me a welder for xmas, haha. The rest is all hands on experience and learning what to do/not do along the way. Pretty much the same way I learned to work on cars, hands on, and common sense did the rest.

The biggest custom thing I did was install a 350 into a customers 89 Wrangler. I did the complete engine install, engine mount re-location, Painless wiring system, headers, custom exhaust, and custom made trans mount/skid plate. That was pretty fun, but definitally NOT as hard as a 350 Fiero swap, haha.

Did he use a Porche trans in that or what?

Actually, the 350 into a Fiero was a kit. Uses the original tranny (automatic). He bought the car wrecked...the front right was mangled. He found a right f. fender in a junk yard and using hydralic jacks, straightened the frame and installed the fender. Now he wants to buy the Porche custom body to install on the frame. I think he just is using the car as an excuse to stay away from his significient other!!!

He too bought his own mig/tig welder for using at home... Ain't a cheap unit...Miller MultiProcess 304, I think. It's amazin' what he can do on house current. I ran his 220 line out to his garage for it. He can do all this stuff, but still calls me to do his electrical wiring in his house!!

He's the one I go to for my wrenching...he has the air compressor and the air tools.

Thats cool....its always good to have a place to go to work on your car. I know my friends always call me for that crap, haha.

My friend and I installed a 4.3 Vortec into a Karman Ghia and mounted it to a Porche trans with a custom bellhousing, man...that was AWESOME! He had to install wheelie bars, haha.

I imagine the Fiero trans might have the same bolt pattern as the 350 engine, so maybe it just bolted up...wouldn't that be cool.

Welding is fun, I admit it, its like grown up legos, but harder to get apart.

I was building my own Lambo Door Kit with my bosses welder but scrapped the project out of frustration with the fender alignment....

I had made up the bracket/hinges and was going to use my parts stang as a template so I could just bolt it to my stang.

WOW...that Lambo door thingie IS kewl!!!! Too bad it didn't work. The original is prob started with the door and everything else is built (programmed) around it!! HA-HA!

You are right, I believe that the V6 tranny he had it there bolted right up to the 350. I'm sure if he puts wide tires on it now to keep from spinning so much, he'll blow the tranny!! It sure is torquey! I think he DID have the tranny rebuild tho...and had them put HD parts in it to help from blowing.

YOu gotta get some pictures or videos of that puppy! Is the Fiero the cool wedge shaped one(91-91?) or is it the one that has a point up front AND in the back?

No pictures yet...it's crappy looking right now. That junker body is this putrud grey/black color. The body style was NOT the GT version. He does have a GT tho. He bought an 85 or 86 (I think) GT brand new. Red. Was his pride and joy. Had to sell it after he got married. Like this one. Anyway recently bought another(silver) one then found the junker. He's having a ball working on it. After Memorial Day (he out camping for the weekend) I'll snap a few pics of the engine and post them. Have a great Memorial Day weekend .....

Sweet...get those pictures posted :D Make sure you link them vs. attaching them because its super small.
