Ford Reman. Long Block

Has anyone ever got a new 4.6 DOHC long block from Ford? It cost about $2000 and comes with a 100,000 warranty... I wonder though, say you have a 96 Mark VIII, will their long block come with the updated Beehive valve springs and the latest chain tensioner design, etc?

That's a "short block". I thought a "long" block had a lot of the accessories on it.

Almost but not quite:

"What is the difference between a short block and a long block?

Engines are two halves. The bottom half of an engine, which houses the crankshaft, pistons, etc., is commonly referred to as the short block. A long block includes the short block - or bottom half of the engine, plus the top half as well. The top, commonly referred to as the cylinder head/s, contains the valves and sometimes the camshaft.
"

Chevy "long blocks" come with the "tin" too. But Max is right, a long block is simply block with internals, and heads with internals, anything above that is extra.

$2k for a long block from the dealer is an EXCELLENT price, but I HIGHLY doubt its "NEW".

Ford outsources its engine/trans rebuilds and than sell them as "remanufactured" but with the good warranties. Sometimes they are just as good, or better than factory.
