Did you know that the center console from a 95 will not fit in a 94?

Yep, it's true. The shape of it is the same, but there is a cross-bar near the forn end that is in a slightly differnet position, making it impossible to align it and install it. I think I could use my dremel to cut off a couple of pieces of metal and it would fit...

My console door latch was broken so I bought this 95 center on ebay and it doesn't fit. I cleaned it heck out of it, even shampooing the littel bit of carpet on the sides. it is very CLEAN! But the I found the cross-bar.

I did not cut the cross-bar. instead I removed the console door and replaced my broken one.



So now I have a center consle for a 95, VERY clean, but the door latch is broken...

I'm going to put it on ebay but if anyone here wants it I will sell it to you for $20 plus shipping. It is from a black interior. It is in great shape except that I put my broken door on it :)

95 usually wont work with out mods to the dash since the 95 and up had the double DIN radio, the whole supporting brackets are different behind it.
 
actually that kindof makes sense, because the problem is the cross-bar where it meets the radio. Good idea about the pics, I will take some tonight after class.

Kind of doesn't... We're talking HVAC mounting points vs stereo mounting points :D.

Are you talking about the metal bar all the way in the end?!
 
I think the support was moved down on the 95-up centers because the HVAC was moved down to support the bigger radio.
 
Has anyone tried swapping out the end crossbars from the 1994 style to the 1995 console. I have the same pronlem and am lucky enough to have a few intact, but wrong color 1994/1993 consoles into a 1994. My black consoles are both 1995's and I've been having the same problem, I didn't think it was my imagination.

Yes, exaclty.

I took a handful of photos, I guess I should get them posted...

Anyone need a black console for a 95? the latch that holds the arm-rest lid closed needs repair, other than that it is very clean and intact.
