well, i have to say i laughed, and almost smashed my car to pieces after i found the problem. after changing the mlps , the crank sensor, the cam sensor, i still couldnt get the car to start. after a few hours of all this changing crap and lots of swearing, i finally decided i was gonna pull the computer and put in another one and see how that turned out. well i stuck my head under the dash to get to the ecu and low and behold one of the main harness hubs next to the computer had unplugged, ( dont even say it thomas ) there is a big square balck plug and a grey one next to the ebrake and ecu, my power wire for my amp in the trunk is running over the grey one and when i stepped down on the ebrake cable the power wire tugged on the grey plug and unplugged it. i plugged it back in and the car started right up. unreal!!!! my dilema is solved! down 90 bucks for a tow too.

O man what a pain after you threw all those parts at it. At least you know what it is now and you were able to fix it yourself.

here's the little jerk right here.

Time to run that power cable under the carpet!!

it is under the carpet! thats where it comes in, next to my column, you can only see it if you lay on the floor and look up under the dash, its pretty much impossible to run that 10 inches of wire under the carpet unless i drill a hole in the floor and run the wire under the car !!!!

I feel your pain! My car didn't start and after trying and trying I gave up and had it towed to a mechanic. I paid the tow man $50 and he starts to drive off. The mechanic is closing shop as the tow truck heads out. The mechanic looks at it real fast and asks, "you got an alarm?" "Yes," I reply. He plays with it hoping to “reset/computer brain fart,” and nothing. He then asks, "you go a kill switch?" I look up and swat myself on the forehead. I have a kill "chip" and I lightly jarred it loose when I got in, it was just enough to not connect. I pushed it in and the car started right up. I swear I could still hear the tow truck in the background. I was embarrassed! Any other stories?

Any other stories?

A couple years back I had the '93 Mark VIII at a car show in Maryland and my son brought along the '91 Mark VII. At the motel that night I decided to go out and move the cars to a more lighted area in the parking lot. When I went to move the Mark VII it would not start. It cranked fine. I popped the hood and investigated with a flashlight looking for a disconnect somewhere. After about 3 minutes and a couple more failed attempts to start it, I suddenly remembered the 'kill switch'. Sure enough, my well trained son had obediantly engaged the hidden anti-theft device! I flipped the hidden switch and it started right up. :)

I decided to mount my Garmin iQue on the shelf of the dash right above the ignition key. I didn't go to drive the car until the next morning and it wouldn't turn over. For some reason I got an intuition and unplugged the cigarette adapter and it started right up. It seems that the electronics within the cradle, interferes with the PATS system. That was several years ago and I still have to unplug the cigarette lighter adapter for the cradle before the car will start. Good anti theft feature. Lol :)

This is a picture where it's mounted.

LMAO Jamie....way to run that cable RIGHT WHERE THE PEDAL SWINGS! I suggest you zip tie it to the u-joint on the steering column too. :D

ha ha real funny jesse, you would only reccomend something so stupid from past experience huh? it will never happen again because i'll never set the ebrake again. florida is flat, i dont need the ebrake, and im never pulling in his driveway again so that solves that problem too, so there :p

No, actually.......I was joking because it was funny that you put your wire there. I have more common sense than wrapping a wire around something that turns. I was being sarcastic, jerk. :D
