Hey everyone, Look at what Nateh2o did today!

these bumpers are for a 94 correct?

i'll talk to my dad.

we might go look around some junk yards or something.

no offense but take it from someone who has parted out over 300 marks in the last 7 years, there is no where near 5 grand sitting there lol, its hard to pull 5 g's off a 2nd gen in similar shape or better. there is maybe 2,500 tops. the highest selling items are in the nose, and there isnt one left on that car! you'll make decent money parting it out but dont even think you'll come close to 5 g's. you would be pretty upset if you were to expect that. if i could pull 5 g's off a 1st gen parting it out, i would be a millionaire years ago.

Yep. That car is a loss... just sell it for scrap... Sorry pal.

You gotta be kidding me!
In no way do I challenge your experience...BUT. :imnew:

I do believe the Front end alone, minus the damaged parts, can get you 22k.
Hood, Fenders, Signal and Headlights,(they're undamaged in the pic) Not to mention Engine Components.
Wiper motor, Wind Shield, and Doors!
Oh my!
Wheels, Calipers, and Disks!
OH MY!
*:err-what?: .....(shakes head to clear "Wizard of OZ" thoughts).....

Ok, Im back, Sorry....:p
Alright, I give. More like 3k because of really cheap used part price.

There's a lot of Mark VIIIs sitting in junkyards that look like that, I agree.

The best way to total one is a front end collision which requires replacing the bumper, grill, headlights, brow trim, front header and hood... especially so if the airbags go off. The replacement parts alone exceed the value of the car minus deductible to most insurance companies. :(

But it certainly is repairable. ;)

Damn you Nate.....maybe go cut your hair so you can see what you're doing next time! :D

haha i know j.
i feel so bad cause you guys all helped me sooooo much and then i went out and just destroyed the car. thanks for all the help though, it was fun while it lasted.

BTW if any of you need any parts off the car before we junk it or donate it just let me know. id be happy to sell anything to you.

Glad you're ok. Too bad about the car though. If you get a decent settlement ($$$) and you're still into Marks, why not put it towards a '97 or '98 and seeeeeee for miles! Plus get a better tranny to boot. Seems as though there are some really nice cars available in the southern US.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Honestly, I dont think a first gen owner would like a second gen as much. I have both, I think the Gen 2 is plusher and better looking but damnit, I like the way the Gen 1 drives better. The steering is a big part of it as the Gen 1 steering is heavier than the Gen 2 and feels more connected to the road. The Gen 1 feels faster as well.

Not to be disagreeable, but I had a '94 before my '98. Maybe the old fart in me likes being able to see better at night, but I like the '98 much better... with the exception of the "blend door curse" which is fixable. I like the interior lighting as well much better. I noticed a difference in the steering too, but the other way around, 2nd Gen being tighter.

I guess it all boils down to preferences. I never did fix the accumulator problem in my 1stgen's tranny. I just got used to it. I cursed the snowflake rims but was too cheap to replace them. As for performance, I thought I'd get better mileage out of the 2ndgen, but it didn't happen. Both cars served me well. I can't believe I've had the 2ndgen 5 years already.

Well it sold!!! They will pick it up on Saturday. The motor is whats needed by someone, and he gets a good bunch of other stuff as well!
Again thanks everyone! We will check in from time to time. ;)

Get a HAIR cut with your new found money.........

Haha! Just kidding....glad you got it handled. What are you going to get now?

my dad bought a 97 jeep cherokee, its his but ill be driving it. its pretty rad, we just put new wheels, tires and suspension on it.

the guys came buy today and took the mark8, they plan on putting the motor in their 97 GT mustang.

I just read your posts and the help he recieved. What a shame. Would have been the right thing to do to fix it. Oh well. Glad mine is not like that. J/K.
