Hi,
My car been leaking oil thinking it’s the oil pan, hate cars that leak!

Any one ever replace there oil pan? Any pointers? How long or how hard is it to do?

Make sure of the leak. Most oil leaks are at the oil filter adapter. There is an o-ring in there that gets brittle and allows oil to weep past it -- makes a mess.

Jack it up, set it on jackstands, get some brake-clean and rags and clean it up real well underneath. Then look for the first sign of it reappearing.

could the valve covers be leaking?

anythings possible, but 9 times out of 10 its the oil filter adapter gasket, 1 times out of 10 it is a rusted out oil pan.

Hopefully for your sake it's the oil filter adapter as changing the oil pan gasket is "not a fun job at all".

1 time out of 11 it might be the oil sender switch.:D

I had already changed my oil filter adapter gasket about 8 months before I had another oil leak. At first I thought it was the gasket again. It was the oil sender. The oil was leaking right out of the plastic part of the switch.

I doubt if this is your problem, but I hope it is, because it's a cheap and easy fix.:)

.:)

yea your right, mine has a "small seeping leak".. not enough to make a puddle.. but enough to make a wet spot under the sending unit.

Also another spot is the oil LEVEL sensor, which is also "seeping" on my car.
