rusty oil pan

has anyone had this issue ?

I have come by a 93 Mark VIII (that i'm looking to purchase) that has some rust on the side of the engine oil pan.
A mechanic has said he would JB weld it but I don't like that idea so I would want to just replace it.

Is this something that can be done in the car - removing engine mounts/trans and lifting it some or is it a total removal ???

given the info below - is it worth it ?

I specifically like this car because of the color (its a very light sky blue) and I have not seen any of these like this.

The trans is also hunting between gears so I am assuming a trans at worst.
I can get this car for $ 1500 and it has about 60k miles on the odometer (although from the looks of it - it seems like the odometer may not have been connected all the time OR the prior owners were a little rough w/ it.

let me know

I've known others to use JB-Weld with success.

You have to drop the K-member to replace the oil pan - not an easy job. Plus you need to find a rust free pan - also not so easy.

Honestly, if it looks rough - it probably is. Waiting for a better example is what I would do. Spending a $1000 more now will save you more later.
