Brake rotors 98 mark

Be2lose

In title only.
Are the rotors different on the front and back? I drive a lot of mountain roads and I am starting to get vibration from the rotors.

I put Power Slots on my wifes Concorde and the work great! I have looked for these for my 98 Mark, But they say they are for the front.

I would like them all around if they will fit.

There are several different mfgs that make drilled, slotted rotors for both the front and the rear. Yes, they are different diameters, and will not interchange. I suggest that you look into buying "lifetime guarantee" rotors from your preferred parts house, and then be very careful about properly torquing the lugnuts on each wheel.

I would not get carried away by looks of rotors... I did and I learned my lesson.

Here are my NON abused or tracked rotors after 5000 miles

I would suggest sticking to PLAIN good quality rotors no slots and especially NO HOLES! Napa premium rotors gave folks the best experiences.

Not that it really matters but.....

I had constant rotor warping on my marquis and switched to the napa premium rotors($55)..Just as bad with semi-mattalics pads.

I got fed up and got the pepboys "house special" $20-30 "made in china" rotors and they've been on for almost 2 years with 0 problems....02

I live in the Santa Cruz mountains, In the past I commuted over the hill( my wife still does) Both of us have heavy automatic cars braking constantly on these winding down hills. I put these Power Slot rotors on her car after replacing them with OEM twice. Now no warping, just a smooth stop.
They are expensive, but in my opinion well worth it for the area we are driving.

Should be engine breaking in the hills...that's what the "1" and the "2" are on the shifter for.

Yea you should be using engine braking and shift out of OD... I commuted through the same mountains for a year on my Mark VIII and I rarely used the brakes...

I would get run over on these roads in second. The speed limit is now 45mph, but most are probably doing closer to 60mph. The speed limit is fairly new (it was an unposted highway) and loosely enforced, unless you do something stupid.

I gotta say, 4.30s with a good high stall converter in the mountains is a thrill to drive when you lock out OD. Using the throttle/brake to coax the converter to lock/unlock is like having a whole new gear. :) Fun stuff.

I'm going to 3.73's a soon as my never ending project list allows me the time.

Go with OD off if you need to be going 60.

2nd gear is good for up to 45 mph...or higher if you have a performance tranny.

Gotta love Highway 17, haha.

The speed limit on Highway 17 is 50mph and people are probably going closer to 65mph, 17 is heavily patrolled. Glad I don't drive that too much anymore. I live on and drive Highway 9 much tighter curves and a little steeper than 17.
