Brembo's on The Mark

Here is a list of items/part numbers being used to convert my Mark VIII hubs over to Mustang 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern, and also what is needed to convert the fronts over to a Brembo 4 piston big brake setup.

Please note that you will need 18" rims to clear the Brembo's. Even then, check with your rim manufacturer to make sure that your 18's will clear them. I had to have my rims custom made to clear the Brembo's. I will post pictures of the install in 2 weeks.

Mike, everything looks good except for the fact that 18" are not needed ;)

All OEM 17x9 wheels clear the Brembo brakes just fine. Just another perk of the OEM parts ;)

Classic Tube ? Who are they ?

I was curious about that kit... I have seen it on ebay for around $700 but since it was the same size as the 13" cobras at more than double the cost I decided against it. Keep us posted on the progress.

Also why are you getting a cobra rear bearing... the stock ones work fine?! Unless they are old of course.

$700 is a steal for this kit. I usually see it selling between $1200-$1400 plus tax, s/h. The bearings on the Mark are original, AFAIK, and they were just ordered as a complete Cobra rebuild.

Or Bill at supercoupe could set you up with all of the required parts at a discount.

I had Ryan at Injected Engineering do all the shopping and ordering of the parts, and they were shipped directly to the shop. It is a lot easier that way - using their suppliers, especially when at least 3/4 of all the parts going on this car were not made for this car. lol Even the stuff made for this car has been modified from stock. I have no idea how many parts were returned so far, but I can just imagine... :)

Looking good... I wouldn't have gone with drilled... but I am sure you paid an arm and a leg for those quality rotors so you should be set.

Thanks Guys :) All the props though, need to go out to Aric Carrion with Injected Engineering. He is the one that made this build reality. I just paid the bills... We had to wait a long time for these rotors. There was a huge backorder on them from Baer.

BTW, lol, He said anyone doubting all this stuff won't fit on the Mark owes him a bottle of Crown Royal :p

I added some more progress pics to the link posted above :) It looks like the front SS lines from Classic Tube will arrive on Tuesday.

I added more progress pictures to the link below. The Mark has it's new shoes on, but there are a couple more things left to do.

The front SS lines need to be installed. I think Aric might try the ones supplied in the Brembo kit. They are about 1" shorter than the stock rubber lines. He would have to make a bracket though. Or, the Classic Tube ones might still go on the car to save some time. They will be here on Tuesday.

He is also tossing around the idea to use a 1/4" wheel spacer in the rear so he does not have to modify the sway bar. If he does that, he will need to install some drag racing extended wheel studs in the rear hubs. Before all that, he is going to lower it some more to set the stance, because it is way too high right now. It appears right now, that the rear wheel will squat and disappear in the wheel well like I want it :)

The Classic Tube SS lines are now installed both front and rear. I added some more pictures to the link above. Aric really liked the Classic tube kit, that included new brackets too. A very nice kit.

He is going to put some drag racing rear hub studs in, and try a 1/4" hub centric spacer in the rear to do two things. 1) Get the tire off the sway bar. 2) Get the wheel closer to the inside edge of the fender.

I am not sure if this will work or not yet, because it is hard to tell if there is a 1/4" to give between the inner fender and the tire the way it sits now. Unless he is thinking of rolling the fenders. It is very difficult to judge this, and Aric is exploring options now to see what is most visually appealing with the stance. I totally trust his judgment with this, and he knows exactly what I want.

Nothing is totally decided yet, but with the many curves that the Mark has, the look of the rear favors pushing the rims out more towards the fenders, while keeping it inside the wheel wells.

It is all about the stance... :)

Sorry to hear you're ending up with spacers... this should have been taken care of during the "measurement stages" but with one off mods like this it is always hard to make everything perfect.

Hold on Max, :) The measurements are fine, and exactly what Aric wanted. He could just modify the sway bar as originally planned, and be done with it. He is brainstorming now. He is fussing over 1/4 of a inch so he does not have to mess with the sway bar - and save me some money, while trying to improve the looks of the stance. Like I said, I think he is going to need to roll the fenders using the spacer. It is that close.

I will say, if there is any shake at all with the spacers, they are history. :)

Mmmk :D Keep us posted... also you were going to post offsets... not sure if you did yet or not but it would be nice.

Sweeet :D Looks great!

How do those brakes feel now?

Those rears look perfect now.... did he end up using a spacer?
