What would this do

Hey, I was just wondering how our engines respond to being cammed? If so what would you guys suggest. Also how much good does a cobra intake do?

Not many have done it, and your money is better spent on ported and polished heads. There is a lot of labor involved as well, remember you have to replace 4 cams.

Exactly... the stock heads flow enough already, actually the B heads flow TOO much already in stock form for 300 horsepower applications that's why Ford changed the design of the heads in 99 to be better for the street. Once you supercharge the car they work perfectly though. A regular 5 angle valve job and cleaning up the exhaust ports is all you really need to do if you want to port your heads.

Its not a 5.0. You dont need to do anything to the Valvetrain or top end. Add a supercharger, a built trans, a posi and some 4.10s and have fun. Just don't detonate it cause aluminum/powdered rods doesn't take it well at all.

I've been talking to a local machine shop here in town and they told me that my 2001 SVT's weak link is the pistons themselves and not the pink rods. They said they melt really easy and have done tons of replacements on them in Stangs running as little as 8psi of boost.
Makes me kind of nervous to start mine up if i ever get it completed. :)
I'm now thinking replace the pistons and rods at same time with some hypo forged ones. Then i can juice it to 10psi or so and not have to worry about them.

I ran 8PSI and the first thing to go was my trans :p.

But seriously if you're worried about it get a meth kit. I used one and never detonated even sitting in Florida traffic. Not to mention for $150 you're intake manifold will be actually cool to touch after a pass.

Aluminum can't take detonation. If they don't detonate, they don't break (at these power levels) but when they do, they go fast.

So, lets just say I have a supercharger, gen II Eaton M-90, with a posi change and maybe a new set of gears it could work?

When I said 8PSI I meant 8 psi from a centrifugal. And if you have a Eaton M90 and not a kit, it will be a paperweight in your garage forever. Forget the Heaton. Your car is an upper RPM flower anyway.

Get a Paxton/Vortech/Procharger/not a powerdyne and do it. Yes a posi , set of gears, and BUILT TRANSMISSION will be MINIMUM to make this an enjoyable car with that supercharger.
