02 LS Lic. Plate Lamp Replacement

Can anyone give me detailed instructions for replacing a license plate lamp on 2002 LS? I hate to pay a dealership to install a $2 bulb but the owners manual says to have dealership do it. Is it that complicated??? I don't want to start messing around and chance breaking it unless I understand how it works. Please provide detailed information if it is practical to attempt on my own or I will have to pay a ridiculous price for this minor issue.

It can not be THAT difficult.... do you have the owners manual? It should be in there. If you don't have it, they are available for download at ford.com and look for owners page.
