Ok, so my 10 disc stopped working, heres how the problem went down. The cd player was working just fine up until the cd started skipping. I took the cd out to clean it - it popped out fine and cleaned it. It didnt work, it was skipping on just one song on one cd, it was the cd. Then i got a new cd.

the cd 10 disc cartridge would not eject. So I fiddled with it by hitting it lightly a couple times and vioula it popped out. However, after listenign to cd's a few hours later - it stopped. It was skipping than it stopped. - press the cd on the dash, the unit says "no". I can pop the cartridge in and out. it will go to play a disc on a cd e.g. 10-4 then change to like 7-5 or something like that.

As of now, the cartridge comes in and out, the changer moves and it appears to be in working order, however inside the car on the head unit (factory) when hitting the cd button just says no, like theres no cd in there or I guess its not reading the changer.

Changer seems to have power. and moving and operating correctly.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem. Before when this would happen I would just take out the cartridge out of the changer and put it back in and it would work again.

It’s broke. The 10 CD changers from the factory are made by Sony and are notorious for going bad. I had 2 replaced under warranty. Not even worth the trouble or the money to fix now-a-days if you ask me. You would be better off with an MP3 player hooked up to the head unit.

Before you throw it away, if you can get it to play at all, while it is playing press the button for station 6. You may see it momentarily flash "off". If so, it may start working properly. However, "no cd" is the most common error code, and I dont know of a fix for it.

is this a common thing that goes wrong? the cd player appears to be functioning correctly... it doesnt make any strange noises, it loads and ejects the discs. if someone loads it quickly, it will flash like its going to play, but other wise it just says no. could it be that it just needs to be clean. I like the idea of having a 10 disc changer.

Have you tried to simply clean the laser lens? Mine was doing the same thing. I cleaned it with a disk cleaner and it seems to work fine now.
Good Luck

there is a metal arm inside driven by a plastic gear, they break all the time, so the cd player to your eye apears to work, in everyway, but inside that arm is the cd selector, when they break, the whole unit will work, but the arm wont move to select cd's, meaning it cant take a disc out of the catridge and put it under the laser to play, giving a " no cd " message. i fixed my old one, with a doner cd player, i took the entire thing apart and almost overlooked the problem, it was very hard to spot, i fixed it with the arm and gear from another bad unit, but after all the hours i had and headache from staining my eye balls, i'd never do it again. i put a killer kenwood deck in my car with all the bells and whistles, including mp3 reading capabilities, plus sirius satellite radio, the hell with the stock changer, its more problem then its worth in my opinion, it was nice back in the day, but its ancient techknowledgy now.
