Ive finally gotten my dream car . 1949 Lincoln 9EL, Im wondering about the steering wheel, it is a green lucite looking material. any help on this welcomed. It is a Lincoln whell and appears original. the translucent green wheel is throwing me for a loop.

The wheel is probably Bakelite, an early form of plastic.

I've never even heard of a 9EL but, I bet I could adjust the points and carb though..:)

Ive never seen a transluecnt Bakelite piece, only solid colors. These cars were also called the Baby Lincoln. The car from the fire wall back shared its body with the 49- 51 Mercury, Merc is 118 inch wheel base and the lincoln is 121 inches. The car looks like its a custom right from the factory. what do you all think?

That is a beautiful car. It does look a little like a custom. I've never seen that model before. What engine does it have?

That is a 337 Flathead , used in Lincolns from 49-51 as well as in the Ford trucks F6 and higher. This is the motor that HOT ROD LINCOLN was written about. Who is the guy that always answers the off the wall questions about old cars on here?

There is one on Ebay right now that the guy calls a ford. He is in alabama and it might be a good source for parts or?
I also know a guy in Fort Myers Flordia that has one and knowing Bill the right price and its yours.
