1993 Lincoln Mark Featured in Popular Science

Hey MindyMark! I haven't seen you in a while. Welcome back!

Thanks for the link! I didn't need to work this afternoon anyway...

Excellent post... and yes, where have you been? :D

I was surprised that they say the MK8 stopped better and had a softer ride, granted the Eldorado I'm most familiar with is my fathers 2002 ETC, but the brakes on that Caddy will rip your face off in a panic stop compared to any of the 3 MK8s I've owned... I'd also say the Eldorado has a much softer overall ride... but again I suppose a lot can change from 1993 to 2002...

Other then the beautiful wood in the Eldorado, I'm jealous of the radio and climate controls on the steering wheel...

Otherwise I like everything else about the MK8 better... :D

Oh, Joe and I have been around. Work has been keeping me busy, Joe quit his job, bought an Antique store and then we tried to buy a restaurant too. We also tried to buy a new house, adopt a baby, but decided not to move, and become foster parents instead.

So that's our last year in a nut shell. :)

So wait... let's just back the fun train up a second here... :D

Which of these things happened and which didn't?

The restaurant?
The house?
baby(s)?

The restaurant didn't go through because the landlord wanted a personal guarantee on the lease for $10,000 a month. Joe and I know better then the mix personal finances with business finances, so we didn't purchase the restaurant.

We were 3 days away from our closing on a foreclosured property when the lender asked us to lie on the application. Joe was purchasing the house on his own (since I already own a house in my name) and they wanted us to write a letter saying we were separating. I know, doesn't make much sense, but we refused to do it.

Lastly, a lady approached us about adopting her unborn baby. We were in on the idea, so we spoke with a lawyer and was getting everything in order. Shortly there after, it was clear she was trying to sell the baby, so we pulled out and reported her to the state. We later found out we were the 3rd couple to report her to the state for trying to sell her baby.

So to summarize, we did buy an antique store, and we are in the process of becoming licensed foster care parents. We actually had a trip to the Zoo yesterday with a group of kids looking for "Forever homes" were we actually meet up with a 16 year old girl, and her 9 month old brother that we are interested in. Their names are Jasmin and Demetric.

So now that this thread is completely off topic, here are some pics from the zoo and the family we meet:

Great pics! I think you guys are going to be great dads!

I'm sorry to hear about your adoption woes. I do hope that child finds a good home. it seems clear that it is necessary. As the brother of three adopted siblings, I can assure you that it can work out very well, and is a rewarding experience. Do not give up on that. On the same note, the foster care approach is, in my opinion, a good one. Those kids need support, and a safe environment. I really am pleased to see you doing this.

Secondarily, as the recent owner of a 86 year old farmhouse, the thought of your having purchased an antique store has me intrigued, even if the distance is a bit extreme..

Welcome back, and thanks for the update, and photos.

Forever home is a term used for children that are in need of being adopted. Tyically the goal of foster care is reunification with the biological parents, or other close family, but once the parents rights are terminated the case goal changes to adoption.
