1997 lincoln towncar (window problem)

I have a 1997 lincoln towncar and I am having a problem with the drivers window going down. I had replaced the switch before but I am now having a problem with it going down autodown doesn't work which I don't need but it only goes down a few inches at a time. Have to push switch on and off and on to move it down little by little. is there a way to eliminate the autodown control so it works off the switch only?
