I posted this over on LVC, but thought I would post it here as well. I have decided to sell my 1997 Mark VIII. The car was my daily driver from 2006 until August of last year, after my wife and I had our first son. Since that time, it has been driven very little. I have attached a link to my Craigslist ad for more details, but would rather the car go to a Mark enthusiast who will take better care of it. I am willing to come down on the price for the right buyer. I just hate to see it sitting in my driveway, and want it to go to a good home.

Feel free to ask me any questions you have. The car is located in Monroe, Louisiana.

I will try to address some of the common concerns with these cars, and mine in particular. I have personally spent hundreds of hours working on this car getting everything in the best condition I could. As you may have recently seen, I just rebuilt my entire cupholder assembly after it came apart. It's fine now, and actually works better than when I purchased the car.

The paint is in great condition other than the front bumper. The previous owner had it resprayed at some point and it is flaking in areas. There is no structural damage to the car and only minimal dents. There is one spot of rust on the entire car; on the top of the car where it was scratched down to the metal. It's just above the driver's door, and is about 2 1/2' long, and 1/8" wide. I was not happy when this happened. The rear window still has the original rubber trim, with no wrinkles or warping. The door handles were swapped for Continental handles after the passenger handle broke and I had trouble locating a replacement in WK (Opal). They are the new style handles with built-in counterweights.

The air ride system works 100%. I also recently installed new vibration isolators on the compressor. The only problem I have ever had (other than a noisy compressor) is when the front passenger ride height sensor went bad. The front would lower all the way down when parked overnight. The sensor was changed in 2008 and I haven't had an issue with it since.

Both the A/C and Heat work. The blend door was replaced 3 years ago, and reinforced per the instructions on this board when I installed it.

It still has working factory HIDs (Sylvania 9500 bulbs).

It has a complete factory JBL stereo system that still works, including the 10-disc changer in the truck.

There are no rips or tears in leather, although the driver's seat is fairly worn (see the picture in my ad). Otherwise, the interior is in good shape.

The steering column works but one tab broke off of the potentiometer so if the column moves all the way in, it won't go back in again once it comes out. I have kept the easy entry off for this reason. The pot. tab can be moved back in place and the column functions again. I do have an extra 100% working potentiometer that goes with the car. The steering wheel has some cracks in the leather, but it is still in good shape.

The car has Octastar rims in great condition, with no flaking and only minimal curb rash. I also have an extra center cap for these rims.

The car runs and drives well. The motor is strong and has no loss of power. The transmission has never given me any problems and shifts perfectly.

I have really enjoyed this car, both driving it and working on it, but honestly do not have the time or proper use for it anymore. Also, my wife is bugging me to sell it instead of letting it sit in our driveway. It kills me to say this, but she is right. I hate let it go, but it bothers me even more knowing the car isn't being driven like it needs to be. Like I said, I am willing to make a deal if you're interested. Let me know if you have any more questions. We are currently experiencing a monsoon down here, but I will try to take some more detailed pictures when the weather clears. Thanks.

Matt
