Hey guys I was looking at the newsest summit racing catalog and it looks like the now have 200 amp alts for our cars. The price was around $400. I don't know the quality, or at what RPM's the max output but it looks interesting for those wanting a high output stereo without the mess of batteries or caps (which are only band-aids anyways). Stinger and Ohio Genertator HO alts run as high as 600-700 bucks. THe only other person I know of who makes HO alts cheaper is where I got my 210 amp, but trust me you don't want to give him your business...

DJ I picked up a 200 amp alt off of the auction site. No problems so far. Where did you get yours so that rest of us are forewarned?

His name is dominic Iraggi, and his name is HUGE among dB Drag racers, which is where I got his number. I am the only mark VIII he's ever done but he told me it would be a 2 week turn around time when I send him my alt (which had just died) I sent it out to him in mid feb. 2 weeks turned into 2 months before I demanded my money back ($320). He was "nice" enough to send me a spare alt to tide me over, as well as a million esxcuses for why it wasn't done, but it was another 4 months before I finally got the alt I had paid for. And when it was done, he demanded another $150 deposit before he would send it back, to be refunded when I returned the loaner alt. I sent him a bank cancelled check.

So what about your alt, who made it? Is it the same size as stock? (that was a stickler for me, I didn't want to fab up anything else to get the alt to fit.)

Company out of Dallas called Alterstart. With shipping it was $320 for a 200amp. Yes it is the same size as stock. Bolted up no problem at all. Any other questions?
