2010 Taurus SHO

New Fords ride way too high. Sitting in the Lincoln it almost hurts to look up at them.

Love the SHO

I was already thinking of the SHO from a decade ago, so I was expecting garbage.

I'm actually impressed...rare coming from a guy who would not want to drive anything other than a Mark 8, price being no object. (That's right, Ferraris and Bentleys have nothing on a Mark as far as I'm concerned.) It would be something I wouldn't mind as a daily driver. They got the styling right, and it is priced just low enough to eat into the Acura/Mercedes/Infiniti market.

While i am definately impressed with the overall power and efficiency of the car, i'm not much for a 4-door anything. The lines are a little toyota camry-ish to me but i love the interior. The biggest downfall to me is the fact that it's already tricked out in the engine bay. What can i do to soup it up and make it faster? Oh, and the SHO badge is scarred by the leafy ecotec crap.

I hear theres 100hp ready to be unleashed with just a tune, stuff about insurance and safety or something.

There's plenty you can do. First things I'd do would be boost controller, tune, put a nice drop on the suspension, and put some sticky street radials on there.

How bad would you need sticky street radials with AWD? Just wondering.
I'm guessing it is on a similar platform to the MKZ/Mazda 6? With a heavy-enough car with a bulky transverse V6 hanging fore of the front axle, and likely being tuned more towards comfort than sport, it will still understeer. Plant the gas (especially with this much torque on tap), and it will just plow forward and weak tires WILL slip on the road surface. I've done it multiple times with the all-seasons I presently have on my Mazdaspeed 6, which is tuned more for handling compared to comfort. It originally came on super-sticky Bridgestone Potenza RE050As, which almost never broke traction on dry asphalt. Tires still play a huge roll, though you can still get away with a little more with the AWD. :)

Don't forget the RSB! :D

Good looking car. This is the Taurus that should have come out years ago. Detroit is putting out some really good cars, best cars in some time. But with the economy and the automakers troubles it just feels like too little too late.

However, I like what Ford is putting out there with the MKZ, Edge, Taurus, Fusion hybrid (not to mention the Chevy Camaro, Volt, Dodge Challenger). One of these Fords will very likely be my next car.

Actually the car is based on the old Five Hundred frame, which is from the Volvo S80. I'm sure that does not change the AWD question that much though.

Also the reason that it rides as high as it does.

OK, makes sense. But I think that will only reinforce my point though. It will probably handle decently for a car its size, but with weight being so high and the center of gravity and balance being what it is, the limits would be a little lower if you follow what I'm saying.
