93 transmission in a 94 car

Certified Transmission has my 1994 Mark. They said my forward clutches were bad. Assume for now they are correct. I have obtained a 1993 transmission and they quoted me a price to install it.

Now they are doubling that price saying - because it is a 1993 transmission there is extra work to do such as:

the "lever needs to be swapped out"
and that was about all the tech could tell me over the phone.

so what's up are they just trying to inflate their estimate now or is there really work to do here?
 
how much are they charging you? You want to get a rebuild instead of investing money into a faulty nearly 20 year old transmission.
 
there is nothing different between the 93 and 94 trans, but like max said, get a full rebuild, or take the car back and find a low mile 98 trans, and do an internal electric swap and run the best of the 4R70W's and have a 98 trans in it.
 
I bought the used transmission from an LOD member (thank you!)

Originally CT had quoted me 2800 for the tranny, 380 for labor, and 100-150 for fluid and taxes etc.

So I asked, if I bring you a tranny, will you install it for the 380 + misc charges? and they said Yes they would.

Now they want 690 + misc charges, which is an extra 310 in labor "because there's a lot of extra work to fit the 93 in a 94"

OK, so, they are bs'ing me? Is there any reason they would have extra work becasue it is a 93 tranny?

I'm putting this transmission in so I can sell this car, I have another better mark with a rebuilt tranny in it ;)
 
The only differences are the MLPS (maybe) which shouldn't take long. Don't see why it is double now.

97/98 transmission are really different from the previous ones.
 
They are obviously dishonest to say the least. They don't need to change anything.

I'd get your car out of there fast if I were you.
 
its a dirrect swap, even the mlps, nothing has to be changed or modified, they are full of **** and trying to get as much as they can to make it worth it for them by you supplying the trans yourself.
