My sons girlfriend has a 94 Ranger. I just learned that she has been having problems with it since June and her step father has not helped. I went over today to tune it. It would idle rough then fine then just quit and it would start right up again. I changed the plugs and wires, airfilter and oil also I fixed one very bad vacuum leak.
The plugs I took out were black and after starting it up black smoke is coming out of the tail pipe. Not sure if it was there before, but probably was.
I've been told that the check engine light comes on sometimes. Have not had time to check for codes. I'm not sure I will get the chance to as her dad(?) was upset I was there at all.
Any Ideas?
