my 95 MArk VIII will not start. The engine turns over and just keeps turning but will not fire up. Sometimes it will start up and then at times it will not. Now lately it just will not start at all.

I had to buy another car to use until I get this Mark VIII fixed. I am now driving a Cadillac, but really miss the Mark VIII.

The fuel pump is working and it doesn;t seem to be getting any spark to the plugs.

Took it Pep Boys and they can not find the problem. But that is not really a surprise, since they can't find their own butt most of the itme.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please email me at Tx-sales@verizon.net with any help.

Merry Christmas to all!!

Welcome!

A common no start problem is the crank position sensor. It's located under the air conditioner compressor, near the crankshaft damper/pulley.

Usually just unplugging it and plugging it back in will get the car started again. It's easy to get to, and unplug and re plug in.

Just climb under the car on the passenger side of the engine with a bright flashlight and look up towards the crank pulley.

does your email address imply that you are in texas?

you might consider filling out your profile information so people that might be close to you, might be able to help.

I'm in texas, I might be close to you.. but..
depending on where you are {texas is a big place) I might be closer to people in baton Rouge than I am to you.

P.S. I'm in/outside houston

Well A Huge Thanks to Billcu, I tried what he suggested and the car fired right up. Now I am looking to replace this sensor just in case it is bad, but just not sure how to go about removing and installing it.

To: XRLVIII,
Yes I am in Texas, actually in the Dallas area. I do get down to Houston a couple times a year. I have thought about moving down thre as I do prefer it much more to Dallas.

The crank position sensor isn't hard to change.
You have to remove the three bolts that hold the AC compressor on (two in the side and one on the back of the compressor)
Then lay the compressor to the side, leaving the lines connected.

That will give you enough clearance to unbolt the CPS and pull it from the block.

For a "first timer" I'd say it'd be a 1.5 hour job, mainly because that bolt on the back of the compressor will take some time to "get out and back in".

Go slow, take your time and you should be fine.

P.S. let us know next time you come to houston
