'99 Cobra Motor and/or Intake fit in my '95 Mark???

J

OCCUPY LoD :)
My friend just wrecked his 99 Cobra with 60k on the odometer and I was wondering if the cobra intake will bolt up to my 95 Mark Viii, and if so how much modifying if any will I have to do. On the other hand I might just offer him some money and put the whole thing in my car. I was even....maybe....if I feel like the trouble.....dropping the t-45 in it too!:9 I am a mechanic so go ahead and shoot all the technical bs my way!! If I do the motor swap, will I need to change the harness and install the instrument cluster from the Cobra in too?

Next question......I just recently bought this car in march and after looking around your site I would really like to get rid of this coil conversion thats on the car and put the bags back on, and even better, do the fast bag conversion that another member did to his Mark. Does anyone want to trade/buy my current kit? It has nothing wrong with it, it rides good, just would rather have the technology of the air suspension again.

Last question....this one freaks me out. When I'm at about 50 mph and get on it hard and hold it the ass end starts swaying back and forth and it gets worse the faster I go. I've gotten up to 90 mph with it doing that but it was F'd up!!!! I've checked everything underneath the back, and its all tight and intact, I was thinking of cutting the front springs a little because I thought the weight of the speaker box in my trunk might have something to do with it. What do you guys think??

Please answer all questions if you can, I appreciate your time and would also like to come hang out with you Nor Cal boys.

Thanks,

J from Sacramento.

the 99 cobra manifold won't fit it's for teh c style heads. Although the motor will fit I believe you might want to get a harness for a gen 2 to swap over to OBD2. I'm sure somone will have more of an answer foryou but that's what I know.

About the rear end swaying.....have you cheked that the sway bar isn't broken? I know it's a common problem with the hollow toothpick of a bar our cars come with.

RE: '99 Cobra Motor and/or Intake fit in my '95 Mark???

what he said on the sway bar.

you can swap the whole motor over, wouldn't be too tough. there would be some power gain but nothing dramatic. The T45 would be nice, but you'll run into trouble installing a clutch pedal and you'll have to build an extension for the shifter. People have done it, it's not insurmountable, but it's not as easy as a simple tranny swap.

RE: '99 Cobra Motor and/or Intake fit in my '95 Mark???

If you're out in commiefornia, don't even try an intake swap or a motor swap. You'll open up a huge can of worms with the emissions nazis. Another guy did an intake swap out there, they made him put on a complete cobra exhaust system including all four cats from ford, then they wouldn't pass him because the cobra used a different eec, then he had it tuned, had the vin in the EEC matching his car with everything properly set up and tuned, and they still wouldn't let him pass. They can be real enviro-nazi freaks out there... so watch out with any mods.

Yeh, you probably have seen my Mustang in the Rides catergory and that mods on that are limited due to smog, I still can run 13.528 at 99mph and took first last year before it was stolen. Its all about the place you take the vehicle, if you take it to someone who doesn't care what you've done and it passes the visual and emissions, they don't care what engine you have in it. Its not an illegal smog, just a "non-anal" smog.:D I live in Sacramento btw.

So.....does anyone want to trade/buy my coil over conversion on my 95 Mark???? I want BAGS!!!

Is the 96 Cobra motor the same as my 95 Mark.....can I go on ebay and buy a bunch of Cobra #### and put it on my car, expecially the headers!!! I want to loose my front cats.

Especially NOT the headers. :(

RE: '99 Cobra Motor and/or Intake fit in my '95 Mark???

A lot of Cobra stuff will fit, but not all of it.

If you stay with an automatic, i'd recommend getting 4.10's and a 3500 stall torque converter. Then headers and intake... but you know about the smog problems down there so that might not fly. You can swap in your buddies Cobra motor with some headers and his t45 with some gears and have a pretty quick car, assuming you know how to drive a stick well.

Hey I live in the Bay Area and race at Sac sometimes with my Mark VIII. Let me know if you ever plan on going out there maybe we can meet up.

And do the shifter reloaction properly. I had all kinds of problems getting it set just right before it shifted properly. BTW...thats my cardoamin page. ;)

RE: '99 Cobra Motor and/or Intake fit in my '95 Mark???

Lol, I did a search on WebCrawler for a T45 conversion on a Mark Viii and yours popped up, funny stuff. So no on the headers........then where can I get some, I KNOW there has to be some trick out there to just be able to swap stock cobra parts onto my Mark to make it faster!! My first upgrade will be the gears, and yes I can drive a stick extremely well, my mustang is a 5 speed and I took 1st place at Sac Raceway 2 years ago in Nov.?, it was awesome all the way to the end, and the big bad trophy I got.........a beer mug that say 1st place on it. That was the biggest let down ever, I got 2nd in 98 in my dads 90 240sx and I got a trophy then. Enough about me rambling, I was thinking about getting that PowerTrax set up and putting 4:10s in, then maybe a stall converter, but we'll see. I can get stall converters really cheap, but not cheap if you know what I mean. I work at a transmission shop and we buy our converters from a company called D & P Converters, and we've yet to have one come back!

How do I find my post without searching for it?

RE: '99 Cobra Motor and/or Intake fit in my '95 Mark???

P.S. In my original post.........does anyone want trade/buy my coil conversion off of my Mark for the stock air bags and valves?

RE: '99 Cobra Motor and/or Intake fit in my '95 Mark???

Which kit is it? regular ride height, or lowered?

RE: '99 Cobra Motor and/or Intake fit in my '95 Mark???

Its a stock replacement, the customer I bought the car off of had them installed some time last year. Stock height, standard shocks. He actually talks to BlackIce a lot he said, he is a old guy named Bob Anderson and he just did the conversion on his 98 Mark and someone on here bought his bags.
