I owned a 1998 lincoln continental for 2 months. The car is great. Only one thing, the alarm system of this car always alarms without reason. This becomes a really annoying to me and to my neighbors.
I send this car to a car audio work, they can not find anything wrong with my alarm system. What Shall I do. Could somebody give me some suggestions or have you met the situation like that?
Thank you so much!

RE: About the 1998 lincoln continental

Are you referring to the Lincoln factory alarm that honks the horn and flashes all lights?

If so, go someplace that can do an OBDII BCE (Body/Chassis/Electrical) diagnosis. If there is a factory alarm problem, the appropriate modules will set fault codes. The OBDII system will hold the last 8 alarm events in memory and define what the trigger was; hood went ajar, a door was seen as open, including which one, the trunk tamper switch was triggered...etc.

This will give you a starting point in tracking down the malfunction.

The most common one is sticking Door Ajar switches, tricking the Vehicle Security system into thinking a door has been opened when none actually have.

If it's an aftermarket system, better talk to the installer!

Thank you so much. I sent the car to Ford dealer. They could not find problem about the alarm system. So I asked them to disconnect the alarm system... They charged me 377$....
But when I push the botton on the remote controller of the alarm system, the horns still works. I do not know what they do to my car. I hope the alarm system will not alarm in the future...
