adding amp to stock head unit

OK guys, I'm wondering about adding an amp to power a couple subs in an enclosure (the stuff I bought from M Darrah) off my stock JBL head unit. My question is, can I tap into the low levels coming into the factory JBL system amp? What color are the wires I need to tap into and is the factory amp located under the rear deck? I'm having a shop wire this up tomorrow but I want to see what you pros know so I can tell them. ;) thanks.

RE: adding amp to stock head unit

I know its possible, because I have done it before I got my Pioneer. I don't remember the colors exactly, and the amp is in that black thing under the rear deck.... Someone a WHILE ago posted connector diagrams for the amp, but I don't know where they are.

Thanks Wacky, I'll search for the diagram. Sounds like it would work but I just wanted to be armed with info. Thanks!

Dont mean to hijack this thread as well, but im looking to install some Boston Pro's (tweeters) in my front doors, do i have to rewire the entire thing? If so, then screw it, cuz im just too lazy, and i'll live with my stock system.

RE: adding amp to stock head unit

I would assume that you could just replace the stock ones. I don't know if the impedence would match though. (ohms)
