Air ride

97 Mark Viii. After getting a flat tire. The tire shop jacked up the car with the air switch on.
After that the front was low and the back was high.
I read an article that if you jumper the air ride relay and pump turns on. It's the relay.
The next morning the car was sitting low on all 4 corners.
Replaced air ride relay (next to pump). Still nothing
No check air ride message. All fuses ok

Any help would be appreciated

No error messages? Odd.

Usually the error message and the timing of it will let you know if there has been a 'hard fault' detected or if the compressor just timed out.

My first check would be to check the ride height sensors are still connected.

My next approach would be to jack the car to just below the normal ride height and start the car and see if the compressor kicks on.

My final check would be to jump power directly to the compressor to check if it operates.

The link below shows how you can easily test the compressor. You can also open selected air spring solenoids to inflate the air springs. I'll move this thread to the suspension section where air spring problems are discussed.

Thanks for the reply. I checked all the ride height sensors and they're OK. I unplugged the pump relay and jumped the relay and the pump turned on. So I ordered another relay. Still nothing. I jumped the relay again and pump turns on, but car doesn't lift? So believe it's the pump/dryer?

Jumping power at the relay only verifies the pump will run. The solenoids will not be open, hence the car doesn't lift.

Did you try billcu's troubleshooting method using jumper wires at the air suspension module(link below)?

Air Ride Hard Fault Troubleshooting and Forcing System To Inflate

I was able to use the troubleshooting link. I can manually make the pump work and trigger all 4 corner relays. I was able to lift the the car back up and it stayed up.
It is not self adjusting. I replaced the air ride compressor/dryer and relay.
When I open the drivers door. I can hear relays clicking 4 or 5 times. Then the relays stop, but the compressor never turns on?

That's strange, what relays are clicking? When they click, is the ignition key turned on?

The front end was sitting low. After replacing the pump/dryer and relay. I had the car running, opened the drivers door. I can hear relays clicking.
So would guess the front airbag relays, but the pump never turns on. I can manually raise the front using the pin out.
There is no air ride error displayed. So maybe the air ride controller?

Did you wait for a couple minutes to check for the air ride message? It might be the controller, but I've never seen one go bad yet. Maybe check the height sensor wires for continuity?
