i expect a conversion kit for 94 town car air suspension system- is it hard to do it- the air suspension system is really lousy and we were advised to convert it to the regular shock system- i expect it tomorrow and we just want to know if its easy to do if it's something we never did before- by the way I'm a senior citizen female but I have help to do it- any comments are welcome asap

RE: air suspension conversion

I see a lt of people converting over and 80 percent of people have a firmer ride. If that is what you like your good to go. 1990-2002 Town-Car air bags have the exact mounting locations... If you want to save a lot of money .. get a set of air bags for a 2000 town-car (non-limo suspension). I pay about $75. a piece from my dealer (wholesale) but they are half of the price as 1994 air bags. I can swap out a set of bags in about 15 minutes. The older compressors take a lot to not work. so if your compressor is good, I'd go with bag suspension. You can look under the hood for the air suspension relay and 30 amp fuse. if the fuse is blown put another one in for a quick second, if the compressor works, pull it back out the compressor should be good. If the fuse blows, your out of luck. Limousines utilize factory air suspensions, how many have you seen with the rear down??? none I bet. If you have any Questions give me a call.1-561-433-5514 Rob

RE: air suspension conversion

thanks limo doctor for your info- the fuse kept blowing and when we took the compressor off- found it was fried inside- cleaned it up and put it back and fuse burnt again and wouldnt work- took off one of the bags and it had slits all over it- and to replace it was too expensive so we sent for a conversion kit to replace the air system and go to regular shock system- and I wanted to know if its easy to remove the old stuff and put in the conversion set- it still hasnt arrived but it's supposed toget here today.

RE: air suspension conversion

It should bolt right up. You may have a problem with an error message, but that's a matter of cutting a wire (don't ask me which one though).

Good luck.

RE: air suspension conversion

thanks to all of you for your help and advice- I got the kit (2 big heavy springs) and my husband who never even saw all this before- with my reading and explanation help- did the job and as for the error light, it explained how to disconnect it from in the hood and everything's aok now- thanks again

RE: air suspension repair

RE: air suspension repair

Thanks for the help. We were able to inform the dealer that the 2000
air spring would fit older cars and he agreed to get them. It saved us almost $300.00 over two previous estimates. The compressor quieted
down and the car returned to its normal ride height and the luxury ride of the car returned. It was a wonderful stroke of luck to find this website and the powerful information. The Ford dealer's service department learned how to make more money or help its customers better.
