Alternator test results

DC output test results of charging system.

Engine off battery standing voltage- 12.73

Engine starting up cold and idle settling-14.57

Engine warm idle with electric fan running- 13.82

Engine running at around 1500-1800 RPM (I had to guess, just mirrored the idle sound when pulling on the throttle) and no load other than electric blower fan-13.87

Engine at idle with blower (not ac just blower) on high, high beams on, and engine fan running-12.80

Engine with the previous accessories running at 1800-2100 RPM-13.56

So I am going to try the suggested wiring kit from driller and new plug, plus the smaller idle arm? or was it just the pulley on the arm J?
Then test again. Depending on those results I will see about a higher output alternator.

Does anyone know the requirements for going from the 125v stock output amp to the PA performance 200v output? I noticed different plugs and maybe a bigger unit?

Sounds fine to me.

I want to eventually put 2 10'' 1030watt infinity subs in the back.

I am very happy it was the tester. But I know the PA most likely went bad, because of the complete loss of charging power. That means the pa lasted me less than 5k miles and I haven't voided the Warranty......??

What amp do you plan on running? 1030 watt is not an RMS figure either.

Hopefully they will exchange it for another! Then keep the kragen one in the trunk. I am going to look into getting a custom one built with 300amps. I will let you know how much they will charge for it.

I generally like to see that 0.5 volts above the standing voltage on the battery, but that does vary with temp and load. Ideally that reading should've been 13.1-13.2 volts.

The smaller alternator pulley is what you want, not the idler. You can get them from the same place.

I would say with the borderline charging under load at idle, the charging voltage will improve with the smaller pulley and be a big plus with the sound system and/or heavier duty alternator.

will this mod. have any adverse effect on alt. life(especially if the car sees a lot of freeway miles ie: 150 miles round trip a day?)

The pulley mod?

The adverse effect is the risk of overspinning the alternator if you hit the rev limiter. Otherwise there is no harm.

works for me! I'm planning on upgrading my stereo soon (on/off switch stuck in on, cassette only the left channel works and 10 disk cd changer does'nt play at all!) while the local radio stations play ok music, but the commercials and redundent play lists get old fast!

If you can't get one let me know. I believe I paid 9 bucks or so. Just remember to SWAP PULLEYS if you return the alternator!!

Reibes in Lincoln....Rich....has to order it out of the book. He can get it. Heck, I may have a part number too......
