Ok,before somebody sends the LOD posse out after me,let me clarify this.I have a chance on picking up a MarkVIII that was stolen and stripped.Well if I get it,I am thinking of making it a 1/4 mile car.It needs way too many parts to restore, but the body on it is in fair condition. So,if I do this,I figure I will be dropping a built motor in it,a built tranny, and a narrowed 9" rear end.The question I have is seeing as how it has the rear k-member,is this feasible?I tried using the search feature but came up with zip.One thing that will be nice about it though, the fuel cell will be in the trunk,so I will be able to access the driveshaft. And no,I wont be using the stock aluminium one.

Um....so you're going to buy a stolen(hot) Mark 8? Or you're going to buy a M8 from someone that had their car stolen and recovered?

I've heard of people using the M8 rear subframe/IRS setup in the Fox Body Mustangs with little modifications. I'm assuming with some mounting points for the upper and lower control arms from a Fox Body, you could put a straight axle in the rear. TONS of labor...but anything is possible.

Check it.......

You may be getting a car cheap or free, but that all is gonna change when you go to integrate a full boogie race chassis into the Mark Vlll. I think you otta send it over to J so we can all watch the transformation, and learn something.

Haha....I'm pretty good with a sawsall :D Thanks RoadBoss...if that was a compliment, haha.

Ummm,Recovered,I wouldn`t buy anything stolen, but thanks for the pics, thats just what I was thinking of doing.I am just trying to figure out which way would be better,to modify the frame,or look into a tubular set-up.

J that was meant to be a complement as you really detail out with pics some of your projects.

King, for my money the only way you'll pass some of the tech inspection stuff for what your'e going to do is to go tube chassis.

There's a black Gen1 Mark VIII that runs in the WFC events that I'm confident is tubbed. I didn't get to see it in the pits though.

Thanks Boss! I try to be as informative as possible because it will help anyone who comes across it in the future. :)
