Are these rims going to fit??

Bolt pattern is 5x4 1/4 with offset of +36mm and a backspace of 6.4 inches. I'm not sure what they mean by backspace and since the stock offset is 39mm i'm not sure if these will fit. Besides would 18 inch tall and 9 inch wide rims with 255/45/18 tires rub?? thanks.

RE: Are these rims going to fit??

Well, backspace is the distance from the inner mating surface to the inside edge of the rim. On a 9 inch wide wheel, a backspace of 6.4" means that most of the wheel ( 6.4 inches of it) will be "tucked under" the car. On our stock rims, 3.5 inches + 39mm(approx 1.5 inches) = 5 inches is "tucked under" the car.

So, your new wheels will be "tucked under" the car by almost another 1 1/2 inches compared to stock.

I don't think there's enough clearance in the front suspension for that kind of backspacing - you're probably going to hit something.

If you keep your *total* backspacing to about 5 - 5 1/4 inches, I think you'll be OK.

First of thanks for the help, i have another question can't i get a spacer for about 1 inch or so??

RE: Are these rims going to fit??

Are you sure the backspace is 6.4"? With an offset of 36mm, 6.4" backspace equals a 10" wide rim!! A 9" rim with 36mm backspace would be about 5.4" backspace. You'd be real close to the spindle with an 18x9 rim and 36mm offset, but the larger 18" diameter would probably be enough to just clear the spindles. And there's NO way you'd want to use a 1" spacer. You'd need to replace all the studs, plus the centerline of the wheel would be way outside the centerline of the bearings, really stressing the bearings with additional side-force.

Good point, John!

RE: Are these rims going to fit??

You guys seem to know something about rims and the various sizes. A lot of us Car enthusiasts are looking to replace our stock rims or replace rims for another set.
Maybe you guys could draft up a word document/article about this for the newsletter. Sure would be a helpful and handy piece to have.
I know Sleeper needs some articles.
Thanks.
