Aww, my first CEL!

Going home from work yesterday, the CEL came on. Not what I wanted to see after 10 days of ownership...

Drove it to Autozone, did the free scan thing. Codes 0174 and 0171 (If I remember correctly) came up. Lean condition on bank 1 & 2. Probable cause: MAF sensor. OK, I can deal with that.

Got back in car, CEL went off. It's testing me...

Told it: "Your not in Arizona anymore, and you don't have a little old lady driving you either."

Hasn't come back on on the drive in this morning. Will be paying attention....

Gonna LUV this car...

Thanks Max.

I'll check into cleaning it. Judging by how dusty it is under the hood, that is one of the things I was thinking.

Considering it sat around for quite some time, I know some things are going to be popping up now that it's "back in service."

I've read many of your posts, and your knowledge will be missed around here.

In some of my expereience I found loose gas caps can throw these codes as well as false air pump readings.

Thanks for all the great responses. So far no more CEL. If it pops back up, will check these things.

I've got a story about the gas cap throwing up codes.

My Mom had an '02 Camaro SS. CEL came on, Dad took it to dealer to find out what was going on with it. Put it on the diagnositc machine, read the codes. Service guy went back and tightened the gas cap, light went off. Still charged him $80.

To say he was furious is an understatement. Not quite as mad as when he had the tires rotated on the same car and the kid put the impact wrench on the chrome lug nut covers to try to remove them though...
