Hey all... has anyone done an engine swap on a 2001 LS with a 3.9? Also... does anyone have any good places to get a reman engine OR a good used engine? Our Lincoln dealer wants $6800 just for the motor!x( WTFreak?! $4800 for a used engine and I dont yet know what they want to do to me to install either. ;(
61000 miles and all routine maintenance done and it throws a rod and puts a hole in the block while casually driving home on the highway. Garbage!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. :D

Right...I got that... what I meant was how does that help me now?

Right now... what I should have done does not help me with what I need to do. Thats all I am saying. Besides.. I should not have to expect this at 61000 miles.

I'd check with an indepentant engine rebuilder/installer. Check out the prices of a rebuild from a Jasper supplier. Jasper engines are usually pretty reliable. I bought one a number of years ago for my '87 T-Bird and never had a problem with it. Traded that car in on my '97 Mark.

Thanks for the thought... unfortunatly I need a 2001. There is a diff between the 2001 and 2002. I dont know what it is but I know the HP went up from 250 to 280. I would have to assume that the computer chip and all other associtated elecricals changed to.

So make him throw in the computer!

Those 3.9 motors are crap. I know someone else who had one blow up a bit past 100k miles.

I'm not a big LS fan. They'd be nicer cars if they had mod motors in them.

I am not what you would call an engine guy. Is the computer the only thing needed you think?

On an LS, I can't say. But probably. The wiring harness may also be different.

Really, if the wiring harness is the same, or very close to the same, you should be able to run a new engine off the old computer. Some tuning might be needed, but unless there are major internal differences, it should run fine.

I'm not up on the differences between model years of the LS, though.

I should be pick up another LS within a day or two. I'll keep you posted on it. By the way, where are you located
